I tried to do that too…split the power up evenly but I couldn't get it to work. Finally I decided to send the power to New Vegas and the Dam.  Not sure if I was screwing up or if it was a bug or what.

I was headed to Vegas but got diverted and still not there. Did some quests in Camp McCarran, the radio outposts, and then Jacobstown. Meanwhile I'm trying to finish the ED-E quest. That has involved a lot of travel and waiting. Now I think I am at the end of it and hope to get ED-E's weapon upgraded. Vegas, here I come, I hope.

I am under the walls of Vegas right now, but I'm thinking maybe I should beef up a little before I venture in. At 13th level I'm not quite all I can be yet, and there is still plenty of wasteland for me, Veronica, and ED-E to explore. I did spend many caps upgrading my armor and weapons at the Gun Runners store outside Vegas - if you haven't been, you should visit the place. They've got the goods.

You don't have to be of any particular level to get into Vegas or survive it. All it does is open up a ton of new stuff. If you don't want progress the story, you can go in and just not meet with Mr. H until you're ready.

I'm still playing shy bride with the main quest. Level seventeen and running around for Mcmarrrmamananan (my favorite Thai curry option).

The important news: killed that [Image Can Not Be Found][Image Can Not Be Found][Image Can Not Be Found][Image Can Not Be Found][Image Can Not Be Found] deathclaw after posting about him. It took many attempts as it's not just him but his many deathclaw buddies. The grenade rifle wasn't enough--do get one, it's giggle-fun to use--so I ran in with Annabelle.

By ran in I mean poked cautiously around the corner, blind fired a rocket, then ran away. The first rocket (on the fifteenth reload) crippled two deathclaws. From there it was running while Sputnik & Boone got savaged, creeping close enough they woke up, and repeating the process. Over and over. And over.

For my efforts I received any extra-giggle unique grenade launcher which is sadly too heavy to use effectively, a mininuke I can't use, and two pieces of Power Armor I don't have the perk to equip. Boone does dig his new plated gas mask but the Darth Vader impressions are getting old.

Lots of effort and time for no gain but the bastard is dead.

I think Boone can wear the power armor if you don't have the training for it yet. Actually Veronica and Cass can too.

I got the Legendary Deathclaw on the second try but I have a sneaking suspicion it got caught on some rocks and couldn't get to me. Also I had picked off all its buddies with a sniper rifle, was wearing power armor and was around level 30 and had Boone and ED-E running aggro. But the first time they smeared me in like a second. I couldn't tell the second time what happened as there was a giant pile of dead deathclaws right where I got the big guy so I could only see the top half of it. Don't you love it when the big boss of the whole game gets its foot stuck in a bucket?

I was hoping for the bucket but no luck. Boone can wear the hat but not the body armor. I had to buff STR to lug it home to the motel. Don't have Veronica or Cass yet and Raul bugged. How many companions are there?

The 90 repair & level 16 required repair perk is beyond wonderful. Yes please, I do want to repair my plasma defender with sticks, boogers, and radscorpion glands.

I need to get that perk on playthrough #2.

I'm glad you're all finding me to be a useful companion.

I believe there are 8 total companions: ED-E, Rex, Boone, Veronica, Cass, Lily, Arcade, Raul (the latter is the only one I have not used- I did not find him during my first playthrough. I thought I heard mention of his name somewhere around Black Mountain, but I never saw him). The best companion is hands down ED-E because of his unwavering loyalty, enhanced sensors, and general all-around excellence in being a pack mule. The best companions for absolutely murdering the shit out of everything are Lily and Veronica. Cass is the best for entertainment value, while I found Boone and Arcade rather boring, even though I liked the Followers as a whole; though I did warm to Arcade once I saw him in Enclave power armor with the other Remnants. Rex is just a crappier version of ED-E who navigates retardedly, barks and poops.

A conversation with xtal prompted me to get the Free Wild Wasteland plugin, available at NewVegasNexus.com. It does what it sounds like - adds the Wild Wasteland trait to your character at any point in the game. I haven't seen anything wild in the wasteland yet, but the way xtal described it, it's not to be missed.

ooo, oooo, I'm gonna get that plugin.

I took Four Eyes & Good Natured but so wanted to experience Wild Wasteland. Not that I have a clue what happens, but still. Much more exciting than - whoop-dee-doo - I can see better.

Thanks, guys. I haven't allowed myself to browse Nexus - this plugin will put me at eight. Any opinions on how many mods before I can no longer avoid a mod manager? FOMM is a step that I am too lazy to learn unless forced.

FOMM's been really simple for me, Yap. The only mods I have installed are some of the ones Armand recommended in his BnB post on the subject, plus the wild wasteland mod, and once they're in and running you don't even need the manager any more. But it differentiates between F3 and New Vegas, doesn't seem to interfere with anything, and helps keep your mods nice and tidy. So far as I can tell there's really no learning at all... it just makes it easier to set the order in which your mods load, and decide which you keep.

That's it, I'm getting more mods. First mod on Armand's list (thankyou very much) is exactly what I've been wanting: Further Third Person Camera.

Steerpike, I used OBMM for a 100+ mods, so it's not that the process is too hard but that I'm too lazy. [Image Can Not Be Found]

Does anyone actually KNOW what the Wild Wasteland perk does? I took it my play through but I can't remember a damn thing unless the Legendary Deathclaw really did get its claw stuck in a bucket. I got a couple of times where a pip boy head appeared with swirly eyes and I would look around and nothing. Unless it was about in-jokes I wasn't getting. Seriously if anyone knows and wants to post them with a spoiler tag I'd love to know what the hell was so wacky. I mean the whole game had that vibe so maybe it was just a lot of little things that added up.

Finkbug maybe Boone can only wear it after you get the training. I know for sure that Veronica can wear the stuff as she is already trained. I went after the power armor training very early in the game so maybe that somehow transferred to the companions. But really, unless you are on hardcore it hardly makes much difference as they will just jump up after dying anyway. It probably allowed me more slack during big fights to not lose them so fast was all.

I don't think Boone can wear it. Only a couple NPCs can. Unless you get a mod for it.  ; )

Here's what I had my crew outfitted by the end of the game:

Veronica in T-51b power armor

Boone in T-45d power armor (I think that is what is in the Wind Cave, not sure.)

Cass in that second set of Remants armor

I ended up in the first set of Remants armor but before that was wearing the T-45d set so at to not piss off the NCR.

Well,  Benny is dead.

I had already gotten into his suite and talked to Mr Yes Man.

So I wasn't very diplomatic with Benny.  Boone, ED-E, and I just took Benny and his four bodyguards out right on the first floor of the Tops.   Nobody seemed to notice or care.

So now I have the chip.  And I think it is time to slow down and explore my options before I make any decisions about who to go with.

I think I will go back out and spend some more time just doing more quests to build myself up.   I am only level 9 now.

Kay, I was wondering how you were doing. I got to New Vegas yesterday and didn't go see Mr House yet. I wanted to do more quests out of the city and clean out some vaults. I am almost at level 16. It took me a while to figure out where The Gun Runners were and I'm not sure how to get into Mr House's place. I enjoy the quests in the countryside the best. I just did some for the Crimson Caravan and finished up the radio quest for Camp Forlorn.  I did search out some Deathclaws to see how effective my sniper rifle would be. They wouldn't stand still, so I didn't do well.

Pokey,   I just have to ask.   Where did you find the sniper rifle.  This has been my favorite weapon in all the Fallout games.   But I haven't found one yet.   Hints???  Clues???   Directions????

Not found one myself but I've found lots of hunting rifles.

If you want a list of sources, http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/.....egas) The site is one giant spoiler so enter if you dare. I dip my toe in with great caution and yank it back out once a specific problem has been solved. The temptation to browse is great.
