Is it important that I convince different factions, like the Khan and Boomers, to help me? I was doing different quests and the Boomers were loyal to me when I was doing an NCR quest and I reported to the NCR. The Khans are leaving the Mohave, so I guess they won't be any help. I was thinking of going with Yes Man. Guess it will be just me and my two companions, unless I go back to an earlier save.

Pokey, I had the Boomers with me all the way through. Each faction is another arrow in your quiver at the end. I had the Boomers and the Remanents. I never did managae to get the Kahns to flip for me though. The Remanents were the best in my opinon.

Thanks, Scout. I'll see if I can still get the Boomers on my side. They idolize me, but I sent them in the wrong direction. Not sure if they will show up fighting against me.

@ Scout:  where's Mr. Hamburger Helper?  And is that a Fink doodle you are now using?  And just what are you investigating?  You could lose a finger like that.

Spike, Mr. Hamburger Helper is tired and wants to take a nap. This is indeed a Finkdoodle. He titled it "scout.heyguysoverhere." No idea what "mr. over here" is pointing at. Hopefully he won't lose that finger. It appears to be the only one he has. Oh, wait I see a thumb.

I only had to fight the Legion but I did get some static from the NCR as I basically backstabbed them and kicked them out of Vegas. My 100 SPEECH came in pretty handy right about then.

That is one thing I learned: don't bother finishing the game with 95 speech, go the distance.

I'll keep that in mind. Speech, science, lock picking, and repair are all over 90 so I use a magazine when I run into a 100 required.

Still mostly messing around with non-main quest stuff. Current party is Cass and Rex, both upgraded. Sputnik is upgraded, Boone is not. The doctor (name escapes) is also available. Idolized by Boomers and Followers (easy to do by shoveling med supplies to them). Liked by most of the rest but vilified by Legion.

The NCR and Followers safehouses have great weapons and armor if you need upgrades. Guns in NCR, energy in Followers and armor in both. I'm still using the Plasma Defender and Q-35 matter modulator acquired early by exploring wildly out of order.

Next task will be helping Joann escape. Her sex scene was hilarious: she put on a slinky and sprawled on the bed. The screen went to extended black during which Cass said she was thirsty and Rex started barking.

Or read a speech mag right before the very end.

I finally went to see Caesar and did his first quest. I am vilified since I refused to work with him any more. I think I already had the Boomers, though I redid the quest to make sure. Just have the White Glove Society left and I need to pay a visit to Mr House. I want to visit Vault 34 and a few other places before I get into the end game.

Edit—Just finished the Beyond the Beef quest. That was different and fun to do. No crashes for me. Trying to finish up Cass's companion quest now. The legendary deathclaw is no more. I sent Cass and ED-E in and he seemed to get stuck on them and I was able to finish him off easily. I lost my companions for a while. I realized they were missing after I took care of Mr House. Searched for a long time before I checked the Presidential Suite. Yes, I stopped in there when I went after Mr House.

Mr. House. That crazy Mr. House. I think I might just side with him on this playthrough and see what he has in mind for the boys and girls of New Vegas.

I'm going with Guns, Speech and Repair this time, big surprise. I sort of look like Robert Clay with red hair and specs. Very professorial look except for the gun floating an inch off my right hip. I stood on the cemetary hill last night at GoodSprings looking down toward New Vegas over those valleys. Some of the hardest fights of the game just a few feet below that DANGER sign. [Image Can Not Be Found]

EDIT: Cray not Clay. Sorry.

My first entry into House's house I opened his sanctum because I couldn't resist hacking a terminal. Easily mowed down the bots thus angered, and put a bullet in his head (House's true form was no surprise at all. I saw it coming as soon as I entered the casino and had guessed it as one of two options long before). Then reloaded to play "properly".

I've got to get over this habit of doing everything in one playthrough with savefile abuse. A dev tracking my path through their game would be driven nuts. I think it's part of why I so love roguelikes: the save file is gone. It forces caution. Sure, I could back it up, and it's not the same thing being unplotted games, but the brutality is good. It forces me to behave and see the game as it was designed.

Scout: go energy weapons if you did guns last time. They're not rare in Vegas and turning enemies into goo has a visceral yum.

A moot point if you do not know what to expect at the end, which I did not 🙂

You mean you don't save and reload the game evert 1-5 minutes to try out different things like I do?  😀

I'm too far down the road to switch and I love my bullets. I actually thought about it when the game offered me the last chance change though. I did turn off hardcore however. I thought about it for a minute and decided it was like  an annoyance mod.

This time I just walked up to Cobb in Goodsprings and took him out. No talky talky for you Mr. Cobb. [Image Can Not Be Found] The Powder Rangers are officially disappointed in me already.

I think I've about finished all the quests I want to do and will soon head for the dam.  Did vault 34 and spent most of the time wandering in circles. Luckily, I had plenty of radiation meds and a suit. Picked up a nice gun and then got the explorer perk. Perhaps I'll visit the crashed vertibird site I see on the map.

Edit...the vertibird site went quickly. My companions could have handled it, but I got a few shots in with my new gun. Seems like I will need to get Arcade's quest to be able to talk to the Remnants. I did visit the bunker but am locked out.

Arcade's quest is tricky, Pokey. As I understand it there are some invisible modifiers tracked by Arcade; he keeps a running tally of things you do of which he approves, and of course the opposite. When you meet a certain quota and/or reach a certain point in the main quest line (very close to the end) he will open up about the Remnants.

If you are having difficulty with it you'll find some useful tips at the Fallout Wikia.

I got Arcade's quest rather easily and the Remnants are ready for the fight. Arcade is a likeable fellow and I'm glad I didn't miss his quest. Time to go to the dam, I guess.
