I don't know how to do the spoiler box so the following MAY contain spoilers. Probably not, but I just don't know... read at your own risk:

So far I've done the main story for Mr. House, Yes Man, and the Legion. All three have very satisfying endings that make sense and work well. You lose something and gain something for each one, so there isn't exactly a right or wrong path. Many of them will make you kill high-ranking members of other factions though, so watch out.. you may have to kill Mr. House anyway (not sure... you can actually beat the game without killing ANYONE, so who knows.) Of the three, I personally found Yes Man's route the most satisfying, in part cause you get to put everyone else in their place, and because he's such a lovable character! Both Mr. House and Yes Man have you helping the NCR at various points mostly to deal with the legion. And playing a bad guy working for the legion reveals some real interesting things about Caesar you would have missed otherwise. If you do decide to play a game where you work for the legion, I'd recommend a high medicine skill. Will come in handy story wise. My NCR game is on hold right now while I play tons of other games.

Finished Mass Effect 2 last night. Much better game and writing than the first one! I don't think I lost any crew members, but they never said anything about it so not positive.

Just finished the game via the Yes Man ending.

This had me killing the Legion leader and sending the NCR leader packing.

Yes Man made some cryptic remarks that hint we might not have seen the last of him.

Always fun to watch the faction endings at the end of the game though I could have done without all the different voice actors reading thier lines so flatly. A single narrator for that part would have been better I think.

Finally, I tried to watch the credits for once as I never do but gave up somewhere around the 10 minute mark.

If there is one word to describe this game, it's F. U. N. Fun.

Armand to use the spoiler tag just highlight what text you want to hide as if you are going to cut and paste it then just click on the little frowny smiley face with the sunglasses, 17th from the left.

I think I might try Mass Effect 2 next.

Congrats, you two. I'm 105 hours in and still don't think I'm too close to finishing the game. I just yesterday got a trophy for discovering my 75th location. I don't know how many there are in total and probably won't end up knowing… I never take the Explorer perk simply because I like to be surprised when I find new places.

Places of note I haven't found that I know exist: the crashed vertibird, which I know exists because I remember someone mentioning a cameo from a vertibird pilot you meet in Fallout 2. Maybe I'll never find it… I've played Fallout 1 so many times and never found the crashed alien ship.

I'm trying to trigger Arcade's quest to come up but I don't know exactly how to… he doesn't say much to me and he only seems impressed when I do something intelligent, or visit some nerdy place. I don't like him much, his self-deprecating sense of humour annoys me, and usually I like that kind of humour. I'd rather listen to Cass or Veronica; and I've heard "Sure…just don't treat me like a pack brahmin, okay?" a thousand fucking times too many.

I can't believe people were throwing up reviews after beating this game in 30 hours. I'd maul them all in a New Vegas quiz, surely. How long did it take you guys?

I came in at 140 hours but I also forgot and left the game on in game all night couple of times so subtract around 20 hours or so. So 120 hours.

I ended up using Cass most of the time though I took Vernoica and Rex at the end to pull aggro while I stood back with my sniper rifle and plinked away.

I liked Arcade. He seemed to be the only believable companion of them all though I didn't use him very much. Cass would have been face down puking whiskey most of the time and Vernonica would have just wandered off from me ignoring her complaining. Boone was annoying after a bit but at least he kept his mouth shut. I never used any of the others. I don't think I talked to Raul once though I might have. I found his shack but no Raul. I wasn't interested in the mutant grandmother either. Cass had the best lines by far though and was the one I enjoyed the most.

Even as much as I liked this game, enough was enough. I was ready for it to be over.

Hopefully they will get some decent DLC for PC

One thing I will say is it does pay to get as many factions on your side as possible before the big battle.

Well,  I am still in very early days with game and really enjoying it.   And since I can now again Scream,  I know I will get through it.

I will be starting right after Christmas and I think Yapette will be too. Maybe we can help each other out. [Image Can Not Be Found]

"Shhhh... be very quiet. we're hunting shitheads."

My favorite companion line.

I agree about Arcade. He's the most believable and human of the bunch. Couldn't get any of his quest lines to open up though. I waned to get into a certain bunker he's supposed to provide access too.

I got that quest from Arcade, Armand.  I think I read you had to have certain quests completed with specific dialouge checks to get him to offer you the Remants Bunker quest. For the life of me I can't remember how I did it.  Of course you have to be in good with the Followers. I had my Speech maxed out too when I got the quest.

"Gonna six this bitch!" Another Cass classic. I dumped a minigun on her near the end of the game cause I was too overloaded and was surprised to see her start using it. Very effective too. Funny to see skinny little Cass blasting away with thata sucker. Take her shotgun from her and give something with some range and she is very deadly.

Also Rex surprised me with his killing power though he was pretty dumb about charging into mobs of Deathclaws and Cazadors. But what can you expect from a dog with a transplanted brain? There would be a lot of reloading if I had been playing on Hardcore...which if I do replay this game I will probably try just to mix things up and even the playing field now that I know some shortcuts through the game.

Yes, Pokey, I'm looking forward to the 25th (downloaded & ready to boot). Currently in ArcaniA, the most mindlessly easy rpg ever. Not one byte worthy of the Gothic subtitle. However, after Mass Effect I'm enjoying storyless drivel.

Now 119 hours in... extremely worn out. There is some mad fucking insane problem with the Restoring Hope quest and walking from Forlorn Hope to Nelson... I've wasted hours this afternoon trying to complete that quest... what probably takes a grand total of 15-25 minutes for the final part of the quest... I've been unable to complete in hours and hours and hours. I've had to hard reset my PS3 somewhere in the neighborhood of ten to a dozen times today.

That confirms for me why for so long I never had crashes and then spurs of so many. They must be area sensitive. The area around the eastern outposts such as Forlorn Hope run slowly and freeze often, though I've never had problems east of the Colorado. Inside McCarran is another bad area, particularly inside the airport concourse. Westside is also a nearly unplayable area. Framerate is insanely low there every time.

Never had problems in 99% of the wide open Mojave... makes no sense. Really pisses me off. I'm in the middle of this damn quest and there's just no way to make progress. I can't finish.

I have to come back to it later when I'm not in a terrible mood. I hope no one else has this kind of trouble. I'm thinking I should have bought the game for PC.

The only problem I had on PC was that damn Chauncey Crash, recorded for posterity earlier in this thread (post 34). Many people had the same problem.

I've not heard that the bugs are area-specific, xtal, but it makes perfect sense when you think about it. The GameBryo engine uses nodes - essentially enclosed areas of space - which is why you get a loading screen when you enter certain buildings, and why you get very quick loading moments even out of doors. It allows for sprawling open worlds without heavy loading, but prevents things like outdoor events (say, weather) from affecting indoor action (you can't hear it rain while inside, for example, not that it rains in NV).

Thus if a certain node has issues, be they engine-related or whatever, it follows that there would be more crashes there than elsewhere. I hope you're able to work through it!

I got through it today... I just took a cautious approach into Nelson... I surveyed from the hills as the NCR rangers moved into the town. Most of my crashes happened while I was charging alongside the rangers. Related? Coincidence? Who knows. I'm just glad I finished Restoring Hope. Since then, not one crash. I'm now certain that most freezes are area related.

In a funny turn of events, I slaughtered the Brotherhood of Steel in their entirety. I was furious after they betrayed Veronica and I and attacked that Followers outpost and wanted to destroy them, but didn't because she said she still cared about people there. With Lily at my side... well, let's just say I'm more susceptible to violent outbursts. It was well worth it to acquire some of their weaponry: my new Gauss rifle currently rips off a damage per second of 382-- insane. One burst will disintegrate most anything. I don't plan to visit Veronica again, I don't think she'd forgive me for what I did. Still, they're no longer a blight.

I have a feeling that the final battle is drawing nearer: President Kimball is about to arrive at the dam; time to prepare.

Is the Powder faction bugged? Still in the baby areas because....

Stopped the attack on start town, then went down the road and found two of them by a rotting plane. They were hostile so I ran away and put on faction armor. No longer hostile when I went back so I ignored them and kept exploring. Found one of their camps, not hostile, but while talking to them the original two showed up and started chucking dynamite. Reload, kill the first two and visit the camp. Not hostile. Then off to the prison and those patroling outside, not hostile. Named guy at the door to main complex attacked. Killed him, entered, and those inside not hostile. Got the little speech about not being their ally but truce if I avoided the camps. Okiedoke. Explored the yard, non-hostile. Tower guards, non-hostile. Entered one of the buildings, non-hostile. Got a quest and left game running standing beside him while I ran to the corner store. Came home and the quest giver had shot me. During this, at all times wearing their armor.

I spent hours reloading and trying variations to figure it out but which Powder NPCs were hostile when seems random. Finally said screw it and loaded the oldest save. Killed 'em one and all and am now the proud owner of far too much virtual dynamite.

I'll be late to the party. Loaded on Christmas, stuck (as usual) on Who Am I? Too deep to answer that day so started a 10 day free trial of Cataclysm (Wow's latest expansion).

Really disappointed & having only adequate fun. Ten day goals: 1) level two new races through starter areas, and 2) fly around the Old World & check out changes. Probably finished & back in Goodsprings before Monday next. When I'll once more be faced with making Life Altering Decisions. Yes! I do know everything can be changed just before exiting Goodsprings. Doesn't matter, still requires a modicum of finality.  Not my strong suit. [Image Can Not Be Found]

P.S. Even though I'm not yet officially playing? Seven mods are installed. I may be wishy-washy about Player-character decisions but have no trouble deciding mods are a *must.*

Fink: The outfits only work on rank and file members of a faction. Faction leaders can see right through it. I imagine this effects many "named" faction members as well. I think if a faction leader sees you and begins to attack, it effects other faction members around you too.

That said, the game is so big and complex (tying all the story lines and choices together) that I wouldn't be surprised if buggy shit just happened.

I've had guests for several days, so I may get started tomorrow or the next day. It won't take long for me to decide on my character, if we have to do that. Looking forward to getting back to Fallout again.

I had that back and forth with the Powder Gangers a bit too, Finkbug. Some would attack on sight and others just wave and smile. Eventually they all turned appropriately hostile but something seemed off with that faction.

xtal, I guess I never saw where the BOS downright betrayed Veronica. I never took a liking to them but I ended up leaving them be. I never got that Gauss Rifle though either. I was sure I was going to get it when I wiped out Jacques and Co. in New Vegas but alas. I finally got the 50mm rifle about 10 minutes before the end of the game but just tossed it.

The President Kimball quest was one of my more favorite ones. The clue to this one is in the quest title.

I'm hoping there is some DLC that lets you pick up after the endgame. You've got my curiosity up about Lily as a companion.

Scout, there's a mod that lets you continue playing after endgame. If you install only one mod (or a handful), no need to mess w/ a mod manager - simply check the .esp at launch, in Data Files.

Yap and Pokey,  I have played quite bit for me.   But as you know,  I am not that fast at games so I have hardly started.   I am here whenever you show up.
