I've been playing Bioshock 2, which I picked up for $5 in a Steam summer sale. I didn't expect much of it, but I am really enjoying the look of it and having fun. I found that I was running out of ammo later in the game, so now my favorite strategy is to use the cyclone trap and when the slicer hits the ground stunned, I use the spear gun on him. Just leaving Dionysis Park now.

Just started playing Oceanhorn on my iPad. It's very much like Wind Waker, only not. It's absolutely gorgeous and the touch controls are.. not bad. Every now and again, I throw my character off a cliff because I've inadvertently touched the screen with my hovering thumb. And once I got stuck in some scenery and had to close the game down and start from the last save point, but otherwise, it works pretty well!

Hi gang - computer has been successfully upgraded (well, it's a new computer, actually), and I've been playing a little Starcraft 2... but that's about it so far.  They are bringing out a third expansion for it, right?  Anyone know when that's due?

Xtal, QT3 is where I caught wind of the game.  I know it's over a year old but I normally just tune out MMO releases.  And Dix, from what I understand, the game has changed and improved greatly since the beginning.  Plus it's gotten rid of the subscription of course.  It does sort of seem like a game whose lore you could just get lost in and not be too concerned about "finishing."  I'm looking for something like that.

Then it'll probably be worth checking out, Botch.  I've meant to go back since it went subscription-free but never have.  Ultimately I just don't enjoy MMOs as a genre.

Congratulations on the new PC, Jarrod! You've been waiting on that upgrade for a long time. What'd you get? What'd you get?

I haven't heard a firm date for the third episode of SC2, but I'd guess we'll see it within the first half of 2014. Honestly, the second one passed without much of a ripple despite fairly high sales - hardly the publicity blitz of the first.

I'm on Day 8 in Pathologic (that town is fuuuuucked), and getting ready to get my zombie on in State of Decay. And Dark Souls, of course. Always Dark Souls.

Great to hear Pokey! As you know, I loved BS2. Dionysus Park was a highlight for me.

Have you found many of Meltzer's audiologs? Keep an eye out for them! It's a fantastic side story if you can get to the bottom of it.

I've found several of his audiologs but haven't found him. I think I am in the area where he should be, found the last flower in Fontaine Futuristics and killed several big daddies but...

...none seem to be him. He should have a little sister with him and I'm sure I checked those I killed.

(sorry Pokey, just spoiler tagged your post!)

So...

How do you know he's a Big Daddy? Presumably you got the audio log where he makes his decision before Sophia Lamb? Anyway, I loved Fontaine Futuristics. I think some of my favourite set pieces were in Siren Alley though (the flooding and nursery bit), and Ryan Amusements were... amusing. What did you do with Stanley? I ended up killing him after much deliberation because, well, the guy was a worm who killed a whole lot of people for personal gain.

Keep me in the loop on your progress! Good to hear someone else enjoying it.

Anyone bothering with Burial at Sea for Infinite? I have no plans to.

And welcome back, Jarrod! No one knows when Starcraft 2: Part 3: Starcraft 5: The One Where You're Protoss will come out, but like 'Pike says it'll probably be in the future, and not in the past, because time machines...

Blizzard and their "when it's done" approach (truthfully, a fine approach) ... so Q2-ish next year is a good guess. If you asked me to make an exact guess... I'd say... June 17th, 2014. Blizzard likes releasing things in June.

Nope from me too.

I find the whole Bioshock Infinite brouhaha (always wanted to use that word) amazing. It came, people came, then people kind of sobered up. You could say... there was a sea change.

...there was a sea change.

BOOM! One point for Gregg!

Also: I missed the "u" and for a moment thought you'd invented the word "brohaha," like, bro. Which is awesome, it's a word that I have now invented, but I give half credit to you.

Me neither on Burial at Sea. I'm very curious if anyone at all has bought it, to be honest. Opinion may vary somewhat on Infinite, but one thing seems universal, that it's been mostly forgotten. I certainly know no one, even among the game's stalwarts, who were really looking forward to the DLC.

Grar! on the subject of "What Game Are You Playing," I saw the icon for Hate Plus on my desktop last night and realized that's another one that needs to go on the pile. Drowning!

Oooh, now I'm going to tell everyone that the next installment of Starcraft 2 will be released on the 17th of June!  I'll post it on Facebook so everyone knows it's the truth!  And, more importantly, I have a birthday around then... so the game might make a good present ;)

Thanks for the welcome back, too, guys :)   As far as my new PC, I didn't get anything too mind-blowing:

(unfortunately, I went through an ORANGE light while picking it up, and the local police in their wisdom fined me $330 for it... who knew it would be so expensive going through an orange light - but I won't make that mistake again!  Anyway, I include that $330 in the cost for the computer, so it wasn't a huge bargain either :P )

A good solid PC, Jarrod. That's the kind of build I often recommend to friends - shouldn't break the bank (except for that $330 orange light fee!), but it's a good performer that's well ahead of anything today and will thus hold you for years to come, and easy to do piece by piece upgrades down the road if you want to.

My own PC, after years of leal service, has decided that it doesn't complain enough and become irritatingly unstable. This may be the push I need to build a new rig of my own.

I don't usually peddle the "more time=more value" beliefs, and I'm not really doing that here, but ... I think they've overpriced Burial at Sea. From what I understand there will be 2 episodes of single player DLC carrying that title; part 1 has been released, is 2 hours long, and you play as Booker, and is openly said to be an introduction to the "meat and potatoes". In other words it's fucking pointless. Part 2 will have you playing as Elizabeth and is, I presume longer than 2 hours (it must be, right?!), because to hell with meat and potatoes that you can eat in under 2 hours. You're eating too quickly. But the thing is both episodes are $15. As in $30 total. That's expansion pack shit right there. In case you don't remember expansion packs (oh of course you do, I'm just being silly): Half-Life: Opposing Force was an expansion pack. It cost somewhere around $30 when it came out, was probably 6 hours long, and was at the time of its release the best thing there ever was.

It was better than bread, and cars, and the goddamned sun, which in case you didn't know provides the warm glow-y sustenance that keeps this planet lively.

Expansion packs/expansion pack-sized DLC should all aspire to be as complimentary to their game as OpFor was to Half-Life, or they should try again.

Journey is great, and Gregg is a jerk, and it's around the 2 hour mark ... so things that are 2 hours can most certainly be priced at $15 in my books. But ... I don't hear anyone saying Burial at Sea is Journey.

I just think $30 is too steep for what seems like a not-incredibly-satisfyingly-in-depth single player story add-on. I'm aware you can buy a season pass and get both for $20, but anyone who buys these season passes should be given a stern talking to.

Yeah, thanks Steerpike ;)

On a different note, over at Ozgameshop they have Dark Souls - Prepare to Die Edition for $25...  I've managed to resist all things Dark Souls until now, but damn that's a tempting price!

Dark Souls PTDE is $5.99 on Steam.  PC multiplayer is kinda dead now, but considering all the hackers that may be a good thing.
