Hi Tappers! My convention schedule this year is about to continue… with a trip this week to Columbus, Ohio, for the Origins Game Fair. This has always been one of my favorite events: large enough to attract a good variety of gamers, but small enough that it still sort of feels like coming back home. Is it video game related? Not really: Origins deals mostly with tabletop, board games, card games, and the occasional LARP, but you can usually find DS tournaments and the big arcade-like Battletech pods. Is it a great time? Absolutely.
If you happen to be in the Columbus area, stop up and say Hi! Of course, I will be gaming.
One game I will not be playing, most likely, is the Dungeons & Dragons “Next” Playtest. The playtest documents were released this last week, and I’ve gotten a chance to read them over, but I really want to put them through the paces with my usual home campaign group, and there’s not going to be much time for that before the convention.
It’s also looking pretty likely that I’ll be attending the Too Many Games expo in Philadelphia, PA in June. It’s sort of right up the street now, so it’d be kind of remiss not to. Trip reports will follow. Hope everyone is enjoying their holiday weekend… and play lots of games!

Origins has been my happy place since forever (where forever==2004) and it kills me that I won’t be able to make it this year. I’m probably due for some major gaming cons later in the summer, but it’s just not the same.
Never made it to Origins. Always sounds liked a con. Our group tends to put all of its eggs into the GenCon basket. We’ve been going there pretty much every year since 1996.
Very much looking forward to your thoughts on the “Dungeons & Dragons “Next” Playtest”, Amanda!
