I haven’t written anything about Guild Wars 2 in a while. Which makes a change. But, its been relatively quiet on the news front. Thankfully ArenaNet havn’t disapointed and today they have officially revealed the final class; the mesmer! Unfortunately for ArenaNet, Gamereactor.dk decided to jump the gun yesterday and release the mesmer skill videos before the big day (resulting in an instant withdrawal on their part) but sadly the damage was done and the mistakenly (or intentially) released video was uploaded onto youtube in seconds and viewed by hundreds of thousands of people. Don’t you just love the internet?
Anyway, the mesmer has been well worth the wait and the changes from Guild Wars 1 to 2 are subtle but fantastic. Pistols, portals, illusion clones and a delicious choice of art direction complete with signature butterflies, leaves me in no doubt about what class I’ll be playing at launch. Head on over to the blog here for some fantastic insight into the class, its artwork, amazing skill videos and how the class will actually play. Oh and if you have time this evening there is a live developer chat over on Guild Wars 2 Guru’s IRC.
It looks bloody good doesn’t it?

The versatility in the class mechanic for the mesmer is mind boggling… your choice of AoE nuke, AoE stun, AoE DOT, or a reflective shield, and you can choose between any of the four at any given time on the fly in reaction to needs of the situation you find yourself in… um…. ya, you can sign me up for some of THAT!
This class is going to be fun in PVE but, it’s going to be SO MUCH fun in PVP it should be illegal. (cue evil laugh) Mwahahahahahahahaha
