How did I miss this? It can’t possibly wait until my SW:TOR news round-up! Bioware have announced a new player versus player warzone called “Huttball” and who better to detail it than the legendary (and very wobbily headed) Dalas Dickinson! Hit the jump, hit the jump!
Firstly, I’ll let Bioware fill you in on the Huttball press release;
“In a time of turmoil where two mighty armies ready themselves, many citizens of both the Galactic Republic and Sith Empire have begun to look for an escape from the uncertainty of impending war. For many people on Nar Shaddaa this escape can be found in the gladiatorial confines of ‘The Pit,’ where two teams compete in a violent game for the amusement of Giradda the Hutt and thousands of spectators!”
We are excited to reveal “Huttball,” one of the Player-vs-Player (PvP) Warzones in Star Wars™: The Old Republic™! Watch the video to see how the game is played and be sure to check back toSWTOR.com for the latest news and updates!”
As for the video they speak of, it was actually looking pretty good until the Huttball game actually began, at which point I was once again reminded of how terrible SW:TORs animations are, how terrible the framerates are and how terrible the combat looks. In principal I think the idea behind the Warzone is good and it very much reminds me of Warhammer Online’s ‘Murder Ball’ but with passing elements, which could all undoubtedly be a lot of fun. Sadly though, the game that accompanies the idea still looks no where close to RIFTs quality standard, never mind Guild Wars 2.
What do you think?
