For those who are not already, please cease current activity and toddle over to our friend Harbour Master’s Electron Dance, and read The Aspiration, in which he is chronicling a game of Neptune’s Pride. At turns hilarious and heartbreaking, even emotionally exhausting, it is always epic and written in a classic Harbour Masterian style that many can emulate but none can match.
Preview—— Part 1—— Part 2—— Part 3—— Part 4—— Part 5
It’s not over yet, but that will be sufficient to get you checking back every day for the heart-rending finale.

Good stuff! I take it you’ve seen the RPS diary feature on a beta version of the game.
Hurrah! Good call Steerpike.
HM: I promise I’ll read through them all, I’m just such a bloody slow reader. Lewis, Mat C: you tell him. You both witnessed my distinct lack of speed when we were reading something on screen at Lew’s 🙁 If only I could read as fast as Derren Brown…
I’ve been avoiding reading these because… well I’m just scared. I should keep in mind how well HM can write and get his thoughts across in an entertaining manner though. Perhaps I can wrangle up the courage to read all these.
No, NO! No report on a freeform game will ever match the beauty of Boatmurdered. Nothing. Ever. I WILL NOT READ IT. Also I have a responsibility to my health to EAT at some point today, so I really don’t have time.
.. *tabs it for later*
Hey, thanks Steerpike! And posted under an Asimov reference! *blush*
Gregg – I don’t hold it against you. Unless you’re still saying that in Feb 2012 and then, of course, I will hold it against you, as well as a carpet stapler. Ewww.
Armand – BE SCARED.
Jakkar – I really should read Boatmurdered. Everyone talks about it. *tabs it for later*
I lack the strategy gene, so I must live vicariously through others and HM’s adventures are highly entertaining. And brilliant! I’ve only read through part 2 (supposed to be working), but I can’t wait to finish the rest.
I lack the patience gene. Neptune’s Pride demands such a routine I start forgetting about it or attacking random people to see what happens by the third day.
Not so sure I’d call it strategic however. Somewhere between stress management and social gaming 😉
One of my favorite HM lines in The Aspiration (paraphrased) – “the Americans could have done anything to me while I was asleep.”
Brilliance. Sheer brilliance.
