Nope, nope, nope, nope.

That last one is somewhat in the same spirit, if it were, you know, more threatening.

Belated Happy B'day Steerpike - you must be a Gemini like myselves.

Thanks for the advice, Spike, I'll try to cehck out Scarecorws Field when I get home.

And can I guess "Take no prisoners"?  or is that too evil?

There's a Magic card, I think it's called "Intimidate" and its flavour text goes along the lines of:

"If they move, kill them.  In fact, kill one now to make sure the other understands."

I thought that was pretty evil.  Kinda cool, but evil.

As a non-player, I thought I'd look this one up. This guy is hilarious. I don't think this direct quote is the answer (and if it is, I'll stand in the next question for a low low price) but it's a hoot:

I come in peace. I didn’t bring artillery. But I’m pleading with you,
with tears in my eyes: If you fuck with me, I’ll kill you all.

That's not the answer, but what a great quote. I'm going to write it on the whiteboard in my office. Hopefully it will frighten my co-workers away.

Being a Gemini like Jarrod, I can give a clever hint: there's a duality to the quote in question, which Sulla himself commented on, indicating that he had never had one or the other that had not been repaid in full.

That is a brilliant quote. Can I have that enblazoned across the the Pen of Hurting?

If I get this right it's thanks to Jen.

Ooh, I just came across "Let them hate, so long as they fear" - Oderint dum metuant.  That sounds threatening, and Latin.

Good guess, Jarrod, but that line is ascribed to the later emperor Gaius (Caligula), not to Sulla. But it has a similar ring to it. Spike's recent guess also has undercurrents of the quote we're looking for. As another clue: this was a way Sulla described himself.

Is the answer as hard to conjure up as it seems, or is this a saying we all know eventhough we might not know the source?

Surely Sulla didn't say "Don't hate me because I'm beautiful."

This is a saying you've probably heard, but isn't common knowledge. I can reveal it and shoulder the shame of creating a trivia question too hard to answer if you guys want.
