In our second departure from playing, Joel Goodwin of Electron Dance and I discuss local multiplayer trailers. And we forget to mention a couple of (puts on American hat) doozies.
Joel and I have played a lot of local multiplayer games now, many of which you will have seen on Side by Side. What you don’t see is the number of games we look at for each season to make the initial Side by Side shortlist. If it’s the thumbnails and screenshots that catch our eye, then it’s the trailer that can seal the deal. At least until we playtest and prune the list further.
But what makes a local multiplayer game trailer work for us? We cite our favourites and a few that miss the mark…
The two trailers that we regrettably forget to mention are for Crawl and Regular Human Basketball, both from Powerhoof, both superb, and both games we’ve covered previously in Side by Side. I can’t believe it. These two are so good I’m going to include them below. Enjoy.
