It’s Side by Side Thursday again, and this week Joel Goodwin of Electron Dance and I are whacking energised spheres and firing chicken arrows at each other in Moonradish Inc.’s Wand Wars.
Wand Wars is a sort of wizards and witches Windjammers. Wandjammers. The difference is that (for the most part) you’re trying to whack the ball at the other player rather than into a net. And you’re flying around on broomsticks. Like Witchball, you can redirect the ball once you’ve caught it, allowing for some pretty tricksie play. You can also shoot arrows which turn your opponents into helpless chickens. Wand Wars is bursting at the seams with content and various modes, rules and features that Joel and I simply couldn’t fully explore here. It’s a cracking package, all wrapped up with beautiful pixel art and a wubby dubstep chippy and chill electronic soundtrack by Bogdan Rybak (the lead developer).
Wand Wars supports up to 4 players and is available on Xbox One, PS4, Switch, Windows, Mac and Linux. A demo is also available.
