Kotaku described it as “freakin’ amazing,” and that’s a sentiment I must echo regarding this first of (hopefully) many episodic indie movies from the Purchase Brothers, detailing the escape of a ragtag band of survivors from the ruins of City-17 immediately after the events of Half Life 2. Showing remarkable skill with greenscreening and use of Adobe After Effects, these guys managed to direct a really quite compelling action short with what was apparently “no money, no time, no crew, and no script.” I’ve seen Hollywood shorts with lower production values and million-dollar budgets. Nice work, guys – keep ’em coming.

I was really skeptical of this at first. Mainly because fan fiction can sometimes be…wince inducing. This ended up being really good, definitely looking forward to the next iteration. Excellent use of in-game vs. real footage.
Only got about half to download. Will have to try again later. It’s got that fan fiction vibe a little but really nice work with the greenscreen.
This is quite well done, and not embarrassing like most fan fic, as Brainsand said.
