They went that evening Mat, those bottles are all fresh 😉

Matt they're all Edge magazines from many years ago. There are some recent issues in there but only a few. These days they act as a weight to stop the shelves falling fowards (I couldn't be arsed to screw them into the walls)!

This is where I play, and occasionally nod off late at night.  I'm not a neat-freak, but I have 2 cats who think they are magpies.  They will take anything from anywhere.  Keys, coins, jewelry, glassses, paper clips, etc.  Even larger things like cellphones and iPods.  I know that if I can't find something I should look in all the usual places where their soccer playing might have deposited my stuff.  For this reason I have learned to keep all surfaces tidy.  For a couple of years I kept my bulletin board in a closet because they removed pushpins, keys, and anything else that they thought might make for a new game.

Games are stored behind the phone books, in the cabinet on the right side of the desk, and in the cabinet under the printer.  I don't often have more than 18-24 games at any time.  Some are forever-keepers, and some await playing, loaning, trading, or giving to son.

My space, let me show you them:

My desk is a pit. I have a bad habit of just dropping things on it to remind me to work on it. The book on the left is my Discover Italy guidebook that's helping me remember where/what all the pictures are that I took in Italy. I think I need to spend some time dusting. [Image Can Not Be Found]

I need a bigger LCD for my desktop. Size matters.

This doesn't show any of my games - I've four plastic bins full of them + plus 4 bookshelves + plus a closet shelf + 3 CD bins + a huge stack of DS and PSP games. It's a sickness [Image Can Not Be Found]

Toger, it's time for a new monitor, seriously. Size matters. Get thyself to NewEgg and invest in a nice 21-incher. Not that size matters.

Your desk looks a lot like mine. I just did a post-tax-time cleaning, or else it'd have been much more heaped with crap. 🙂

Spike, that cat there looks pretty affronted at being photographed. You might have to sleep on the couch tonight. At least, that's what I have to do when mine is mad at me. She kind of runs our relationship.

On xtal recommendation, I rewatched Gregg's video, with music.

Holy crap! How did you do that Gregg? It's like, you found the perfect song for that video!

That's the whole computer.  24" iMac with both Mac OS 10.6 and Windows XP.  Space-saving, it is.

@Steerpike:  she was affronted, but not at being photographed.  She is 14 years old and just a tiny bit senile.  Whenever I am up and moving she thinks I am heading to her food bowl.  Because of course there has never, in the whole history of the universe, been any food in her bowl.  She is always just a few minutes from starvation and death.  My bedroom is the one room that  is off limits to cats.  Let her get mad.  Nyah, nyah, nyah, nyah nyah.

@Gregg:  terrific, really terrific.

@Toger:  my desk would look like yours...if only....

LOL, you all think you've experienced tight spaces before, but I spent 7 years living in a very tiny (like 350sqft) studio apartment.  Finding space for my computer desk, speakers, console systems, television, and all the games was pretty much impossible after I had set up the basic furniture needs (bed, kitchen table, bureau, etc).  I remember storing games under the kitchen table, on top of the kitchen table, in and around the closet area...heck I think I even had some games stored in the kitchen hehehe.  What a mess....

Ahh, it's great to see everyone's gaming/work spaces. Seeing all you people with desks for your computers makes me kinda miss them. I figured that with working at a desk all day it would be nice to run my PC through my HDTV and be sat in a more leisurely reclined position. I miss the 'cockpit' feel of sitting at a desk gaming.

Toger, that is one... er, 'busy' desk 😉 And your computer looks like a freakin' docked mothership. It's just HUGE. I thought mine was big. Uh, not that size matters.

I noticed that a couple of you were using HDTVs and more living-room setups to use your PCs. I've never tried it. It kinda scares me. Like Gregg I sit in front a computer all day and I do feel a little fatigue coming home and finding it difficult to want to do the same thing. How do mice work without a flat surface on which to move them?

What Steerpike said. I'm at a computer + desk all day as well. I'm sure I'd play more of my PC games if'n I didn't abhor sitting in front of it at night.

How does one even set that up? And how is using a mouse without a flat surface?
My desk isn't usually that bad; however, I've yet to dump all my Italy stuff (ticket stubs, maps, brochures, etc) so it's definitely adding to the mess. A flamethrower is in my future. [Image Can Not Be Found]

I don't know if I can put up a pic here, but here's a link to my current (temporary) setup, I've managed to hide in my old website...

Interesting desktop image on the larger monitor.  What is it?

Jarrod, you're a cutie! [Image Can Not Be Found][Image Can Not Be Found][Image Can Not Be Found]

Okay, some of you make me feel like a neat freak (not you, Spike!), so I am going to post my pics.

This is my fancy Ikea computer desk. Not too many games here, although there are a couple on the shelves. My CPU is in the black hole under the desk. It's a Gateway FX gaming computer, nothing fancy but full power for everything I ever do on it.

This is my huge and fancy Ikea wall unit. The bags on the left are stuff ready to go to Goodwill. I am usually not so disorganized as to look like a hoarder! PC games are in the leftmost glass-door cabinet; consoles and games are in the big drawer under the TV.

Here's my space as it is at the moment, although hopefully it will expand once we move into our own home. At the moment I'm relegated to a cramped corner of the missus' bedroom. Pictured here is a 26" tellybox, an Apple iWotsit, some Sennheiser ear cans, a Nintendo Handheld Eye Melting Device, a GameStation 3 and a little teeny weeny iFruit Mini computer.

I bought a stray/no-man's shelf from IKEA for 25p, it even came in birch to match my Poang! It's a tad heavy but once you've got your wireless mouse and keyboard on it you're away.

@Jen: me and Hailey so nearly bought one of those desk-shelving-thingies but realised it was about 4mm too big to squeeze in. Shame really because they're freakin' cool. I see a Photoshop book…

@Jarrod: You certainly are one dashing hunk of man meat. And yeah what's the desktop image? Looks like some sort of cog city. City of Cog?

@Lew: you donk, what the hell is that? Night photography? A long range screenshot?

@Mat: very tidy Mr C.
