Nice space, Armand.  All the important stuff to hand.  And your avatar is you!

I must be the odd ball here.  I can't see the chair that Toger sits in to game, but everyone else seems to prefer a desk chair with arms.  I hate the arms.  In my youth I never learned to sit like a lady, or even an adult.  I always fold up, which is to say that when at in my desk chair, my right leg is folded under me, and the left is folded up with my foot flat on the seat.  I'd sit yoga-style but then there'd be no room for my keyboard tray.

Very cool, Armand!

I also have "weights for show." I keep them in the living room, by the sofa, creating the illusion that I lift them while watching TV.

Why? Don't you guys look like your avatars?

I also usually fold a leg up when sitting, but being a smallish guy, I can do it with an arm chair and still have somewhere to rest my arms!

My chair is an old dining room chair - no arms, but it's got cushions in an attempt to counteract the hard wooden seat. Long gaming sessions have numbed my butt. [Image Can Not Be Found]

Spike! I made the same observation: most everyone games in chairs with arms! I remove the arms so I can sit "Indian Style." You know, with legs folded up. Or else, one leg under, the other leg pretzel-ed over top of that knee. (even in airports & on planes)

Second notation: no L-shaped desks? I must have one, L to the left. Where else to pile gaming junk while I play?

And everyone mouses on their desktop? My mousin' arm rest is an ongoing messy solution. Without one my wrist begins to ache, especially when playing perpetual clickers (click to move, click-click to hit-hit). Eventually my hand tingles and goes to sleep (making mousing impossible).

Over the years I've used:

1) a formal padded arm rest that clamps onto the desk but it's veeery heavy and won't stay clamped

2) rough wooden board slipped between keyboard tray and desktop

3) smoother door taken off desk cupboard and slipped between keyboard tray and desktop

4) various TV & bedside & laptop tables but the wheels/legs/bar are annoyingly in the way

5) currently Styrofoam kick-board from $1 store jammed between keyboard & desktop

Is it any wonder I hesitate to post a photo? On the other hand, my desk area has interesting objects from my travels. [Image Can Not Be Found]

P.S. I too thought Armand's avatar looked just like him. Mine? I refuse to answer.

I'm small too, but I see you have your keyboard on your desk, and mine is on a slide-out shelf.  Chair arms would be in my way.

A few years ago my daughter found a web site where you could start with a basic avatar and personalize it.  She did a good job, and it is generally like me, including a couple of items that express some of my hobbies.  I'll put it up here for a few days, then go back to my first love.

Another photo showing armless chair, sliding tray, and the wonderful long, gel-filled wrist rest to the right of the computer, at the edge of the desk.  That gel thing must be 12 years old by now, and without it I just know I'd have carpal tunnel syndrome.  Left arm wraps around, and kinda rests on, left folded-up leg.  It never rests on anything hard.  My chair is airy and cushy, and eventhough it probably doesn't look it, my gaming space is very comfortable.

More gaming spaces! Great stuff Pascal, Sen, and Armand.

Jen, you should visit Sennebec sometime. She has quite the sanctuary in the woods. Beautiful place.

Armand, nice setup. I like the polka dot design on the desk drawers. What a great idea.

I have arms on my chair too for flopping back and expressing joy and/or disgust with myself as the case may be. I got both my keyboard and mouse off the desktop. I have achy joints these days and my doctor ordered me to get all ergonomic. The mouse is on a little armed out mouse pad that extends from my Workrite adjustable keyboard tray. I can't bend my knees for crap so I game in a "normal" sitting posture, feet flat on floor, etc. Of course I usually end up on the edge of my chair with my legs sort of wrapped around the pedestal and toes curled under. After a few hours of gaming I have to stand slowly and walk around to ease out the kinks. Being 60 years old has its disadvantages.

Here's a "some bum", photo of myself from last week.  I'm wearing my Headbone Interactive beanie I got years ago from that website that used to sell semi-rare adventure games online. The owner was a buddy of Jen's but I can't remember the name of the place. He was a Four Fat Chicks denizen. I think the website is long gone now but he had some pretty hard-to-find adventure games for sale.

For a long time the map was my that's-where-I shall-return-to-grow-old-and-die marker.  Eventhough I still enjoy the vibrancy, energy and amenities of big cities, I've decided that for day-to-day getting around I prefer a less congested place.

I'm quite a bit smaller than a map of a city neighborhood.  [Image Can Not Be Found]

Gah! My laptop is being lame so have to do a half-assed job from my iPad.

Here's my very humble setup - it's not as cool as most of yours!

nice hat, scout... as you know, via FB, i've got one too!

and such a nice nod from a confirmed townie in regards to my woodsy seclusion...

since you were here i added a deck, a screened porch, and a small barn 🙂

very fun viewing the various gaming spaces!

everything from clinical to organic...

but i'm amazed that no one seems to want to recline, with feet up, while enjoying the gaming process?

ain't no way in hell i'm gonna sit bent up like a pretzel... knees are shot... and when i come home from landscaping i just can't bear sitting upright in a chair... give me comfort! LOL!

i love having my keyboard in my lap, left arm resting on the chair, right arm with mouse on the edge of the desk, feet up in front of me... i guess i'm a lazy gamer!

sennebec (love your place by the way!! Beautiful!), check out my video on page 1 or 2, I can't remember. You'll notice that I too recline with a keyboard (and mouse) on my lap (well, technically on an old IKEA shelf) and there's a puffy cushion to stick my feet on as well! And those slippers aren't mine by the way. Honest.

MegaWatts, I expected some whopping 'man cave' for the editor-in-chief at BnB! 😀 Your setup gave me a little nostalgic buzz because it looks like my old setup at uni. Loving the yellowing SNES, I have one just like that too! 😉

Most of this h/w is work related stuff. PC on the right is gaming. Note proper chair with arms. None of this curling up nonsense.

hey greggis! thanks for the compliment 🙂

i went back and reviewed your video and now i can see your lounging setup! love the empty rolling rocks... a man after my own heart 🙂

i especially like your "f*cking huge computer" remark! i try to do all of my own maintenance and upgrades but occasionally i need some expert help... you should've seen the look on the tech's face when i first hauled it in... after the first few "how do you do's" he asked if a was a gamer... LOL!

Yes, I would expect as much from someone with a troll on his desk, and animal print accessories!  [Image Can Not Be Found]

@spike and helmut... it's pokey hanging off the edge of the monitor that i most appreciate!

and i'd like to add that i'm major ADD... if i'm just casual gaming i always have a TV on...

when i launch into a real game it's when nobody else is in the house but the dog 🙂
