You were supposed to toast Spike! Ah well.

In Middle Age Europe a cheap clay named pygg was used to make mugs, plates. All manner of containers.

How has the word pygg survived into the modern world?

Correct. [Image Can Not Be Found]

I've got the sinking feeling I've used that one before. I've also got the rising happy feeling the question is now Jen's to deal with!

I just bet your happy feeling is rising! I think that is a fairly widely known bit of trivia, whether or not you've used it before.

Several elements have been known through millennia, such as gold, silver, and mercury. In 1649, though, the first element discovered through
scientific inquiry was found by Hennig Brand. What was that element?

Neither of those. Sorry, ladies.

Here's part of the description: "It is an essential component of living systems and is found in nervous tissue, bones and cell protoplasm."

I'll wear the chemistry  [Image Can Not Be Found]  and guess carbon.  Seems like that would have been discovered eons ago, shortly after the "discovery" of fire, but....

Well done, Aud! The first element identified through scientific inquiry. Who'd've thunk?
