Last week Joel Goodwin (a.k.a. Harbour Master of Electron Dance) and I got together to have a chat about Puppy Games’ upcoming Revenge of the Titans. Harbour Master, being the big softy he is, came away with a different take on the game to me so it’s well worth a read if you weren’t entirely convinced by my glowing first impressions. The discussion can be read here but while you’re in the vicinity you really ought to take a look at some of his other articles as well, especially his recent pieces on two controversial — and hitherto relatively unknown — RPG Maker games by Nicolau Chaud, namely Marvel Brothel (yes, it does exactly what it says on the tin) and Beautiful Escape: Dungeoneer (not for the weak hearted). His Marvel Brothel article, after being plugged by RPS and Destructoid, went on to attract enough traffic to bring down his entire site. But that’s only the beginning of the story…

I am a big softy.
When you said you were going to post a link over here I had no idea it was going to be a mega-link-athon. Cheers Gregg. And how come my site logo looks better after you’ve played around with it?
In the interests of truth and justice: my web site didn’t actually go down in the end but I was getting scared of said event occurring. I’m only paying for skimpy bandwidth at the moment…
Oh? I tried going there during the upheaval and it wouldn’t load even after repeated refreshes. The cold hard truth isn’t quite as compelling though: ‘His Marvel Brothel article … went on to attract enough traffic to make HM worry about his site bandwidth’. That’s for you truth and justice.
Then again my internet has recently been, to quote my brother, ‘up and down like a prostitute’s knickers’.
Uh-oh. I didn’t get any reports of an outage at the time, so now you’re worrying me. Maybe it was down and no-one told me until this very day. See the look in my eyes: that’s fear.
All logos look better once Gregg plays around with them, except – and I stress this – logos he plays around with that I THEN play around with when under the influence of pain medication. Those’ll blow your mind.
Great conversation on RotT, and I’m glad Gregg plugged Electron Dance a bit. I’ve always enjoyed the thoughtful work over there. We don’t redirect enough traffic to bring down sites, but I promise we’ll try. : )
Great stuff you two- i really enjoyed it. I hope you do more 🙂
Really enjoyed reading that. Infact, I’d love to see more articles in that style. It’s amazing how much more you learn about a game through two guys having an informed chat about it, rather than just one guys opinion in a wall of text..
It’s taken me a while to load of Titans but just given it a blast for the first time and really enjoyed it. Will certainly look out for it to buy.
Thanks Mat. HM suggested we try this format out after we exchanged a number of emails on Titans and I’m glad he did because it’s something I’ve been wanting to do for a while. I find the usual wall of text a bit suffocating at times so this was a really refreshing change and something I’d love to do more of in the future.
I think Revenge of the Titans is being released in a couple of weeks and Cas says there’s going to be a big surprise so, quite frankly, I can’t wait.
