Helmut, you interested in a copy of Frozen Cortex? I have a free copy going and I'm struggling to think of people who might enjoy it enough to warrant giving it to them. I think it might be your jam.

Think Frozen Synapse meets American Football, only more streamlined and a bit easier to grok. I haven't played the single-player yet but the management and knockout modes sound pretty cool. The multiplayer is brilliant so I'd be expecting some challenges from you at some point!

http://store.steampowered.com/.....pp/237350/ (the Steam page looks a bit more informative than the game's homepage)

If you're interested send me your email address so I can message you the key.

OT: I bought the Metro Redux bundle.

I'm not sure and I appreciate the offer. This is a situation where a demo would go a million miles (1.6m km) towards showing whether they'd fixed the things that irked me about Synapse, the link to which remains stubbornly unclicked on my desktop.

No worries. Your issues related to the... unevenness of the single-player procedurally generated maps? And the UI? Well the procedural generation is still there but because it's a sport you take turns from each side so it's never uneven. The UI is very similar but much leaner with no right click menus or icons denoting actions -- all that's gone now.

I just bought Wolfenstein: The New Order. Heard nothing but good things about it and, hey, new graphics card to play it on.

Boy that's a lot of money. I mean, there's no reasonable world in which seventy dollars isn't a pretty big chunk of lucre. It's more than most people carry in cash, I'd bet, and that seems like a good metric to set the bar between things that don't cost a ton and things that do cost a ton.

Everybody knows what goes into these games; from that perspective a price hike is understandable. But in the real world, fact is, I buy A LOT of first run games and they don't turn out to be worth the price I paid. Rather than going higher and higher, they should scale it. Which would never happen, but it'd be nice.

I've looked at the sale but my backlog is just too long. Mostly this sale is depressing to me because there's a lot of pretty new games I bought at full price that are now like six dollars. I really, really, really need to learn some patience.

Life is the misery we endure between disappointments.
