Yap:  Point/Counterpoint:  you're showing my age!  The thing about open-minded and/or liberal folk is that when confronted with opinions counter to their own, instead of arguing (line through) debating said counter opinions, are most likely to take the "to each his own" point of view.  "The TR Debating Society"?  Might could happen.  Maybe.

I personally hate the whole "everyone is entitled to an opinion" defence. It's such a cop out. Give me reasons and let's debate. Let's get under the surface of the argument. Let's fight to the death. But let's not agree to disagree.

As I get older I find myself taking a "Yeh, whatever." attitude if the issue isn't an important one.  It's easier, and better for my health, to not get het up about the trivial.  Plus, when the arguer is an idiot (nobody here, thankfully), I figure why waste my breath?  Whereas, when younger, I loved an argument about almost anything.  Whatever.  [Image Can Not Be Found]

Damn!  This time I hijacked my own thread!  Is there no end to our meandering off course?

Hey Gregg, I like the justified text (admittedly I didn't know that was its name-- I just called it "spaced out" text) ... it has both a classic (newspapers) and modern (I see it oft used on vinyl record jackets these days) feel to it.

Hahah, well I'm quite pissy about typography because I love it (and I'm a graphic designer). With justified body text (typically used in papers and journals) you can get what are called 'rivers' running through the text; that is, spaces trickling down the columns through the words and I find it looks messy. Have a look here for a good example.

This is my favourite use of justification and incidentally xtal, it appears on a record cover!

Yes, that's actually the type I like! I guess there exists more than one style of "justified" text? Forgive my total ignorance on the subject.

And incidentally, I have that Radiohead record! It's quite excellent. [Image Can Not Be Found]

No need to be forgiven it's a specialist subject! Yeah there's full justification and left/center/right justification.

That album is brilliant, not least because of True Love Waits. I love Radiohead though, did you ever hear In Rainbows?

I own all their albums on both CD and vinyl 🙂

Kid A and Amnesiac are my favourites, as well as that live record.

(though I don't own their first one... never felt the need to bother there)

Just to knock this thread totally out of orbit, I was reading about FX's new series called Justified, coming out.  Based on an Elmore Leonard western. It stars Timothy Oliphant, the stern sheriff in Deadwood, playing, of all things, a stern sheriff. 'Sposed to be excellent.

Ahh, me too (no vinyl though!).

And me too regarding Pablo Honey. Never felt the need or desire to get it. I think a rogue version is lurking in my MP3 lair somewhere though.

It's usually between OK and Kid A for me depending on my mood!

Scout:  loved Deadwood and Oliphant.  I might have missed this if not for your much appreciated derailing of the original topic of this thread.  What other site can cover so many topics at a time in one thread as us?  Kinda like a grab bag - you gotta read them all because you never know what gem you might miss otherwise.

Doom was certainly the first to come to me - how iconic it has become!

Can't really make out the others...

@Scout and @ Steepike - wow, I had no idea about this show either, I'll have to check it out.  I thought Deadwood was awesome.  I was never a fan of the Westerns, but Deadwood can turn a man's head.  Everyone keeps saying these threads are like a grab-bag...  has no-one yet said they're like a box o' chocolates?

And back to the pics at the TR header - can we make picture requests?

1. I'm going to guess at a Phantasy Star because Mr. Pike loves them.

2. The Exorcist. Fact.

3. I'm not sure about this image. It looks a little Metroid but I know it's not; it's too olde console looking.

4. Demon's Souls! The Shrine of Storms.

5. HL2. Dur.

6. Doom. Duur.

The changing images thing at the top is vrilliant. I mistyped brilliant there but I like it. I'd be willing to contribute a few to throw into rotation at some point. It looks a lot of fun…

@Jarrod: I reckon it's more fun to guess the images. I suppose suggestions could be made to Steerpike so others could guess. I like the idea of a T-R quiz game quietly sitting at the top of the home page.

Actually I was thinking that maybe we could do a contest each time the image changes. Whoever correctly guesses all the images wins a prize - a game of their choice or something like that. I'll create a forum thread for it.

Think of it as a way for me to get all your physical addresses so I can hunt you down if you displease me. [Image Can Not Be Found]

One day I will figure out CSS well enough for the system to randomly place six images from a large pool whenever the site is refreshed, but that day is likely far off.

We do take requests, but then you can't compete!

That 3rd image looks like Castlevania.
