Meanwhile the damn search function STILL seems broken. I was sure we could bring it back by taunting it! Guess not.

I love the irony of a search feature being broken on a forum where there is such a smorgasbord of derailed threads.

Food for thought, Gregg.  Maybe it's not broken at all.  Maybe it is powerless to find what we search for in all the disjointed (but highly informative and entertaining) topic posts.  Embrace the irony.

The search feature is broken.

That is all I have to say on the subject. There may come a time, in the far future, when the search feature is fixed. Until that time we are hosed. Why is the search feature broken? I have no idea!

I suppose we could just ditch the forum and subscribe to a massive Google Wave. Now that would be fun to navigate!

There, there, Mr. Pike. Not to worry, at least in my case. As I never knew we had a search function, my normal method of willy-nilly without-a-plan opening of threads will continue uninterrupted. Over time, who knows, my method may become the new normal. [Image Can Not Be Found]

How about we post our search querries in random threads?

Then we could get a real 'agent of chaos' feel about the place.

Oohh!  I like the sound of that.  Or if that thought is too frightening, we could think of our searches for threads as scavenger hunts.  Family friendly.  Non-life-threatening.  Nah.  I like Jarrod's idea better.

Steerpike:  please understand that none of us is criticizing you for the possibly-broken search feature.  We don't really care if it gets fixed at all - ever.  We're having fun finding those illusive threads.  Besides, it makes us want to help those searching for a particular post from ages past.  Camaraderie is encouraged and abetted.

Oh, I feel no criticism! Heck, I didn't know we had a search feature either. As to the cause, I suspect it has something to do with the file structure our site host uses, which unfortunately I think is beyond our control. Fortunately, in my position I am able to announce suspicions like this and then do nothing to fix them, as my capability to break the site when I indulge in technological spelunking is legendary.

This forum system has grown on me but it has its idiosyncrasies. I need to spend some time on the forum's forums to see if anyone has suggestions.

Because it's my birthday today and I'm well known for being a "trouble-maker"...

:stamps feet:

But I want the search feature fixed! I need it! I want it! [Image Can Not Be Found]

For $4.99US a search string, I can do your searches.

Happy birthday, Toger.  [Image Can Not Be Found]

A year wiser.

A year more irreverent.

A year more creaky.  Quite possibly from too much time sitting in front of the computer doomed to searching for threads unfound.

Enjoy.  When does your PS3 arrive?

Happy birthday, Toger!

Today is my Mom's birthday too. Ides of March and all that. May your day be equal parts tequila and idiots you can rend limb from limb!

Thanks everyone! [Image Can Not Be Found]

Helmut made me laugh out loud. Do I need to pay you in order to search for where to send the money for my searches? [Image Can Not Be Found]

I haven't located a PS3 just yet. EB/GameStop claims there's some in stock at the one around the corner, but I've been loathe to call them and check… 9.5% sales tax & carrying it home hoping not to get mugged. But I've got time. I celebrate all month. I love telling people my birthday is the Ides of March and waiting to see if they know what the heck I'm talking about. It's helpful in marking the idiots who need to be rent limb from limb.

Alas, no tequila (my libation of choice) in the house but I do have vodka (for making pie crusts. Really!) and cranberry juice. I think it's time for a girly Cosmo!

Just had the thought:  figures that the Togeraptor was born on March 15th.  Gives new meaning to the admonition "Beware the Ides of March."    [Image Can Not Be Found]
