Apparently leaked (but likely just another viral marketing ploy) trailer on youtube: incorporating all the typical improvements necessary in a sequel. The NPC's now try to live their lives with meaning, check. Improved day/night lighting, check. The player's actions now alter the way he interacts with NPC's, check.
They didn't change the odd NPC's animations when they were talking though, and that's the first thing your eye will be drawn to. Still, any game that has the Havoc engine and the shock wave skill allowing you to blow enemies off cliff edges is going to be a world of fun.

That sure makes it look cool. I didn't get around to playing the original Witcher and I've always kind of regretted it. With the holiday massacre upon us, I probably never will. I'm with Toger on the white streaks, but the rest of that movie had some pretty sweet graphics and animation. You can't go wrong with Havok in a dynamic battle system like that one. CDProjekt's really made a name for itself, let's hope this one does well too.
Life is the misery we endure between disappointments.
I'm sure that it's placeholder voice work and I note that CD Projekt has issued a statement regarding the leaked video.

To sum up: placeholder voices, early alpha code, same dev team, no release date.
I never did finish the first one. I finally got through the pit of inventory sorting and formula creation in order to finish ch 3, and was wandering the fields of ch 4. The repurposed giant stalk (echinids?) thingies from ch 3 in ch 4 colors was just too much, and my copy of Geralt is still out wandering the fields.

You didn't finish The Witcher after teaching *me* how to manage potions? (by sharing his ingredient spreadsheet)
Two thirds through playing I realized that The Witcher was "my kind of game." Before I had not thought in detail about why Title A was so much fun to play while I slogged endlessly through Title B. Examining The Witcher, the following features define my A+ game:
1. Third person with sympathetic, agreeable main character. No whiners or attempts at humorous comebacks (fail, fail! my humor is not your humor).
2. Limited armor & weapon choices. (doesn't get any better than Witcher's one upgrade per chapter).
3. Interesting settings & npcs with personalities.
4. Storyline more involved than "find lost person/object & kill everything between Intro & The End."
5. Limited inventory fiddling. I suffer from underutilized yet hoarded potions & equipment. Since Witcher simplified weapons & armor, I could focus on brewing specific potions as needed & best of all, actually consuming them.
Await Witcher 2 with glee.
So I need to be spanked. I failed to push through when the game was all fresh and exciting. I found the work required to repeatedly resume the threads and re-figure out what I was doing with ingredients and where I had stored everything on top of the overly slow save game mechanism wearing. And for some reason I found myself dying with the longest stretches of unsaved progress lost over and over again.Tapped out repeatedly, as it were.
You're right about the good quests and unapologetic character and interesting world. I would have liked something better with the combat, more tactical engagement or something. I thought it was a little easy except for those stalk plants with ranged attacks I couldn't run from. Still, if they give jedi push powers with a Havoc physics engine, the world will come knocking at their door.

Good. I had silently wondered if the that stupid voice was just the pizza delivery guy someone pulled into a sound booth and shoved a script under their nose with promises of a month of fat tips... apparently it was.
Like Yapette, I found The Witcher pretty compelling. Most potion making schemes are just a pain but this one was just right. One of the Witcher's strengths was how simple you could make it if you wanted to. I just swerved around the extra complex potion mixing and used the auto mix. I guess I might have been a bit beefier if I had been more cunning but I opted for for simple and really didn't notice any problem. Gulp potions, pull out sword, let blood fly, bye bye.
I liked the combat too. It took a while to get used to it, but when I got the rhythm, it was more fun than the usual clicking. The way the game used potions was so much better as well. I usually don't bother much with them in games. Looking forward to playing the sequel and hope it is as good as the original.
