Wing Commander lives! The fan group WCSaga group has released Wing Commander Saga: The Darkest Dawn

Warning, the site is currently operating in a low bandwidth mode to cope with user demand. You might want to google for some public mirrors to save them some pain.

Dark Souls to the PC? Game Informer thinks so. I would like to see what all the fuss is about.

Far Cry 3 trailer released! Over/under on game quality/fun factor firmly rooted in major suckage!

Baldur's Gate coming to iPad this summer!

I knew there was a reason I bought one.

Baldur's Gate would be awesome on the iPad. Planescape, too. All those classic Black Isle/Bioware RPGs. Fallout, Icewind Dale, you name it.

Helmut, I just downloaded the WC Saga package. I wonder if I still have a flight stick around anywhere.

Both those games seem somehow really appealing on a tablet device. I never finished either Baldur's Gate games. I think a tablet port could be a really cool interface for those top down games.

I have this inexpensive Saitek ST 290 joystick. They have good durability and work well for driving games and Battlefield helicopters, but they not suitable for Space Sims. Their strong centering spring make it too hard to make subtle delicate adjustments  near the center.

It just suddenly dawned on me that I need a h/w update. I mean look at this review of NVidia's white hot new card.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/.....-review/12

My 8800GT (where it can perform the test at all) is outclassed by a factor of (nearly) 6! I need to get off DX9, I need a new PS, I have some serious needs.

It also appears that the bottom has fallen out of the joystick market. There were only two sticks available on 3 online sites I just visited. I hope they can port WCSaga to the iPad as well.

Oh it's time my friend. We gotta get you some DirectX 11 lovin'. As a Metro 2033 afficionado, as a Bulletstorm fan, you want the tessels and the splines and stuff.

I myself have a GeForce 560 that I bought to go with my newest PC, and it's quite delightful. Probably less than half the price of that 680 - which I must admit does look delicious - and can still handle anything I throw at it. The Great Helmut Upgrade is upon us!

Now, don't be disparaging the power of the 8800GT!  My current PC has 2 running in SLI mode, and they've been doing a decent job the past 3 1/2 years.  cool

Edit: I wonder if the Baldur's Gate remake will also be coded for a PC download release?

In Bulletstorm's final scene, Grayson Hunt expresses regret to Trisha over getting his whole crew killed and letting the antagonist escape. Trisha poses the question, "So what are you going to do about it?"

Apparently, nothing. The game has been shelved and evil will win again.

But then, out of the darkness, comes good darkness for the pc, except naturally, GfWL:

Man, I would have loved a Bulletstorm 2. Maybe sometime down the road...

I'm newish here (well, very, very old actually, but I just found you all again!). You probably already know about GOG (Good Old Games) which sells most of the really great stuff DRM free. It all works from XP to Windows 7, and also through my Fusion virtual PC on my Mac. The site: http://www.gog.com/

(Sorry, I dunno how to post links here yet).

I mean, they've got everything and for pretty cheap. Take a look!

In order to celebrate the 200th anniversary of losing the War of 1812 to Canada, the Smithsonian has started a month long brain teaser, here. It appears you will need to buy copies of the magazine in either digital or paper form (or give away your life's information to access a free PDF version) to compete.

Actually, I just made that up. It's not about the War of 1812 at all, it's to celebrate American History. It is done in collaboration with Ken Jennings of Jeopardy fame, and part of the first rule is, "The Puzzle is open to natural persons," which I take to mean, "NOT open to IBM computers or any shit of that sort."
