Big Fish Games has changed their Game Club membership.  This is good news.  I have enjoyed some of their games when I've been between "big" games, or just wanted to play something light when I didn't have too much gaming time.  I've been a member a couple of times, and honestly, I often didn't think a particular game was worth the $7.99 or $9.99 that I've paid in the past, much less $19.99.  So I think I'll sign up again.

  • For just $6.99, you'll receive a Game Club credit you can use to buy any game on our site.
  • Each additional month is $6.99. Every month, you'll get another credit you can use any time. They never expire!
  • There's no commitment - you can cancel online at any time! You'll keep all the games you've purchased

The reduction in prices is rather nice. I'm a member so I'll save only a buck a month; however, the new set up is kinda strange.

If you're not a member and buy a game, you're automagically enrolled in the "club". If you're not paying attention, you'll be charged for game credits each month unless you cancel. Every time you buy a one-off game, you have to sign up and cancel. That's somewhat... Columbia Record Club-ish. I just wonder why you can't just buy one game and walk away without the sign up/cancel process.

It's because we all tend to forget to cancel these kinds of memberships, trials, whatever.  Each time we do it's $6.99, so to speak, for them.  A good deal.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, but decided I shouldn't be so mistrusting. [Image Can Not Be Found]

I always used to sign up, buy the six or twelve credits all at once, and then cancel immediately. Now I am about out of things on there that I would ever want to play, and I still have some 7 or 8 credits left.

I got that email and was happy to see it, but I even thought 6.99 was a bit much for some of them lousy games.

Course it does make me rethink waiting for 99cent deals on some games I've been wanting for ages.

That's what I love about the one hour demos. You can actually see how stinky a game really is before you plunk down cash. It's amazing how horrible some of those games are... [Image Can Not Be Found]

yep... i just (as in 2 minutes ago) cancelled my BF membership... i had 5 game credits pile up by default (jan thru may) and kept saying to myself that sooner or later there will be a few games on BF that i will really want to play...

heh... there are none that i can see at the moment and i'm soooooo busy with the landscaping biz this time of year that i really won't have the time for much gaming till november and i didn't want 5 more game credits piling up!

i consider this move on BF's part as a sneak attack... bah... shame on them [Image Can Not Be Found]
