I've been using Google News for my home page for a few years. Over time I've customized it to my taste by adding sections on subjects that appeal to me. One of those sections is Video Games. I get the usual stuff: reviews, news of new releases, articles about controversies, the people behind the games, etc. But one headline from this morning, in the Video Games section, was a doozey.
RNC Fallout. For a moment I was imagining…shooting Super Mutants at the RNC headquarters building. Then going across the street to the Senate and House office buildings to clear them of the Enclave. I would, of course have to venture into the nearby museums for some quest or another, and the Capitol Building is close too, so a repeat visit there.
Sadly, the article was about fallout over RNC spending irregularities, but the keyword "fallout" was enough for Google's algorithms to place the article in my Video Games category.
I can dream, can't I? [Image Can Not Be Found]
In another custom Google category, this time Books, I got this today: "Sakey was destined for greatness from the start." Turns out that Brock Sakey is a championship tennis player at the University of Central Florida.
We here know that "destined for greatness" also applies to our Sakeys – even if they can't play tennis.
For those outside the US, RNC is the Republican National Committee.
"…you just keep on trying 'til you run out of cake."
Maybe Google should get into the game development biz. Today's Google News Video Games goodie:
"Catholic Sex Abuse Scandal Fallout Spreads in Europe."
So many plot possibilities. So little time.
P.S. If I've offended anyone, too damned bad. [Image Can Not Be Found]
"…you just keep on trying 'til you run out of cake."
Well, now, fallout... does... spread. And I did once state that had I known how unsavory video games really are, I'd have probably gone into a more wholesome profession like the priesthood. So there is a connection there. I guess I'm reaching.
I do like your RNC Zombies game idea, Spike. We could do a whole subtext about how they mindlessly agree with each other and are in lockstep on everything, no matter how absurd the talking points their masters give them. Whereas the DNC can't agree on anything because we're still allowed our own opinions.
I'm sort of hoping Obama asks the Senate to introduce a bill proclaiming kittens as fuzzy and adorable, just to see all the Repubs find a way to be against it.
Brock Sakey? *google*
Hmm. Most Sakeys are related to us, but I haven't heard of this branch. Every now and then I get a Facebook message from someone saying "I'm your fifteenth cousin! My name is Matt too!"
This tennis clan doesn't look much like us. I'd better check in with Dad.
Life is the misery we endure between disappointments.
