So I played this for another hour today and I don't think I'm enjoying it anymore. I'm only about three hours in. I feel like I'm more save-scumming than playing, the enemies keep spawning and the challenges don't feel skill based. I wonder if I'm doing something wrong.
I can definitely see how it inspired many modern games, what with the 'woman over a radio telling you what to do while you walk in circles' approach.
EDIT: I guess it helps if I spend my upgrade points doesn't it. I mean, I knew to do that, but I didn't realize that the game would just expect me to backtrack to do it...
I think when the world ends and is preserved purely through space-faring time capsules SysShk 2 will be most remembered not for its innovation, its ability to wet pants or for its diabolical villain, but for the amount of games it inspired to have an achievement called "Look at you, Hacker".
