Squad: Your objective is to deploy and protect the perimeter here. Only pizza delivery personnel are to be allowed through.

Thief 4!! Deus Ex 3!!

Edit: I should have mentioned that the Thief 4 announcement is new (although widely leaked). The official site: http://www.thief4.com/

Should I be ashamed that I finished neither game? [Image Can Not Be Found]

Probably not. I only finished the first Thief after walkthroughs were invented. The switch from skulking sneaker to wide open adventure gaming in the Lost City level took me completely by surprise. I'm paused 1/2 way through the last level of the 2nd game, too fatigued to continue.  I was enjoying the third but have some weird save game issue after re-installing windows... Deus Ex (1) took some tries and I never even looked at the second one. Still though, it's nice to get a fresh look.

For all its problems, Deus Ex 2 is definitely worth a look, especially since modern computage is powerful enough to run it. The game has some idiosyncrasies, but it also does one thing that almost no other game has ever done to me: it made me feel unsure, on a personal/character level, what was right and wrong, and what to do next. It's definitely worth your attention.

Let's hope Eidos doesn't screw these up. I assume no one from the original team will be working on either title, but Thief: Deadly Shadows desperately needed new blood. I have some good ideas for it, maybe they'll hire me.

“There are currently some exciting vacancies on our DX3 team.”

Hopefully these aren't between the ears…

I've never been a big Thief fan (though I hear the last one has a really scary level which sounds attractive) but the possiblity of a DX3 is pretty cool.

Scout, my old friend, you don't know what fear is.

Shalebridge Cradle is, without question, the most terrifying two hours in gaming. I literally, physically, could not play it alone. A friend came over. I just needed someone else's voice.

The good news? Jordan Thomas, a longtime level designer and the man who created Shalebridge Cradle, is now the Creative Director on Bioshock 2. Let's hope for the best. 🙂

If you get a job there, maybe you can put in a good word?
