Late this morning I could get to the TR home page, but couldn't access the forums. A bit later I couldn't even get to the home page. All was well by 3PM central; don't know just how long the "outage" was. I can't remember what the error message was, but it lead me to believe we may be under attack again. Bigger weapons, that's what we need.

Thanks everso for starting this thread! I had the same 502 error as Pokey.
As always when my computers don't work as expected, I think it's my hardware or my connection or my something wrong. Never suspect the cause to be outside the realm of what *I* must fix.
I always assume that it is outside my realm of influence. Mostly I blame it on Comcast because it usually is their fault. I've had trouble for the 2.5 years since they took over from Time Warner, but I've had a great deal of TV trouble in the last month. I quit getting several channels that I should get, and it took a week and 3 calls to them to get it sorted. It was their fault, they admitted - 1st the missing channels, then the death of my DVR, caused by them repeatedly remotely rebooting my box to fix the problem. They killed the box, then raised my cable TV rate after they had to bring a new box. They said my rate had been grandfathered in as a former TW customer with old TW equipment. But when they give an old customer new equipment, they raise the rates to supposedly current Comcast rates. I called and complained twice last week, to no avail. Policy is policy, after all. Since then my internet speeds have taken yet another hit. I'm not saying they did anything to punish me for complaining loudly, but you never know. So...IT AIN'T MY FAULT!!!

These days whenever the site doesn't respond instantly I freak out and assume we've been hacked and call MrLipid in a panic. This morning, though, it looks like it was just a server outage on our host's side. The hackers who caused us so many problems when we were FFC appear to have moved on to other targets, though to be honest given the type of attack they used, we or any other small site are no less vulnerable to them now should they choose to strike again. However, we only attracted their attention in the first place due to a vulnerability in the old forum software. The forums, now, are more secure, as they live within the WordPress system rather than as an external piece of software.
Life is the misery we endure between disappointments.
