Spike, just so you know: when you buy on Steam, there's no rule that your purchases must be downloaded just that minute. My steam doesn't run in the background, my steam doesn't download unless I give permission. Except for Portal & Half Life 2, none of my steam games are currently downloaded or installed.

Except when you cannot remember your Steam password so you can only log in/download from home because you're auto-logged in.  (which is why I didn't jump on the $2.49 Deux Ex as the sale expired while I was at work) [Image Can Not Be Found]

Thanks for reminding me, Yap.  I knew that a few weeks ago and promptly forgot.  Don't need more games.  Will buy more games.

...and Day Three (of steam's sale): Zeno Clash for $3.75.

Since pre-release I've wanted to visit this gameworld. With a trainer I hope to play it like an adventure game. Albeit an adventure where I punch the living daylights out of most eveyone I see. [Image Can Not Be Found]

Well after Steerpike mercilessly egged me on to buy as much as possible off Steam, I caved and bought the expansion for AI War, Space Rangers 2 (I had no idea what this was before I saw it in the sale) and Defense Grid.

Oh fuck it, I'm going to buy L4D2 as well. It's too hard to resist. How the hell are we expected to not buy?!

Also for anybody interested, Impusle appear to be selling the Gothic II: Gold edition for £6.79 ($10.15) which features Night of the Raven.

$50 for THQ Complete Pack, including the Company of Heroes games, the first STALKER, Metro 2033, Red Faction Guerilla, and Dawn of War 2.

Another bargain!

Rumor has it that unless a game is listed in the daily special, it's best to wait until the last day of the sale as Steam continues to mark games down during the course of the sale. I'm waiting until the last day… just in case. Here's a full listing of the games on one page, so you don't have to dig through the genres.

Today's (6/27) daily special includes the Gothic bundle (Gothic Gold and
Gothic 3) for $4.99 and Max Payne bundle (MP & MP2) for $3.74. I probably shouldn't mention to Spike that Half-Life is $1.99.

Too late Toger.  I can't even buy a McDonalds burger for $1.99 (not that I have in the last several years).  How could I not buy Half-Life?  Even if I hate the old-school graphics, it is the precursor to HL2, so....

Crap! I paid 9.99 (I think) for Gothic Gold a few months back and now you can get it and Gothic 3 for under 5 bucks. G3 is a mess but G2 for 2.50 is insane.  It and Morrowind would tide you over on a desert ilsland for a long time.

Today's (6/28) daily deals include: Tales of Monkey Island Complete Pack (Chapters 1-5) for $11.90 and the Oddworld Pack (Abe's Exoddus & Abe's Oddysee) for $2.50.

I've been wanting to play Oddworld for ages, I think I'll just on this and add them to the growing list of games I own and will probably never get to play. [Image Can Not Be Found]  I'll pass on Tales as I'm not a fan of Telltale's "humor" as it's usually a little too much slam-you-over-the-head-aren't-we-too-clever-for-our-own-good.

I enjoyed what I played of Tales but had the same feeling that the humour was quite heavy and groan worthy in places. I've got to say though that I did laugh a couple of times during the trial so perhaps I could stomach it. I'm not a great fan of the 3D graphics though, especially considering how good Curse of Monkey Island looked which I never actually finished, so perhaps I should pass on this offer.

Abe's Oddysee and Abe's Exoddus are great if you can handle the low res graphics on today's crisp LCDs, also worth considering Toger is that the controls will be quite fiddly a pain in the arse on a keyboard because of the talking system. I'd advise getting a pad if you can. Having said all this, you've got a PS3 haven't you? Well I'd see if you can get hold of the PS1 CDs cheaply on eBay or something because they'll be upscaled and feature all of the CD music rather than the toss MIDI I think you get on the PC. Another plus is that you can play using your PS3 pad. [Image Can Not Be Found]

Me gots a dedicated gamepad (needed it for Overlord). I might even have a wired 360 controller. (I keep meaning to check on that.) Yeah, I figured the gfx would be pants, but I think I can live with that. Heck, for a buck anna quarter per game I can live with just about anything! [Image Can Not Be Found]

Today's (6/29) deals include: GTA IV for $4.99; X-COM Complete Pack (exactly what is X-COM? I noticed a bunch of people got over-excited on the front page due to a new game in the works) for $3.74 and Osmos for $2.49 (I think I've played a demo of something similar to Osmos and it was quite soothing).

I'm going to disregard that, Toger, and assume that you've just suffered a head injury, or are from another planet, or are teasing us. Everyone knows what X-COM is. It's the best strategy and political simulation game ever made, ever. Ever!

That's sorta helpful. So, if one wanted to test the waters of X-COM which game would one play as opposed to buying the whole kit n' kaboodle (although <$4 for 5 games can't really be ignored)?

On closer inspection, forget I asked. Too many buttons and things to tweak. My head would explode. Plus, I pride myself on having no strategy when it comes to playing games. 😀

Sigh.  So far this week the only thing on sale I bought was Half-Life @1.99.  I'd like to get Dark Fall: Lost Souls.  It is currently on sale for $10.99, which is a good price, but I'm looking in every day, and will not buy until Sunday to see it becomes a daily deal.  Probably not since it is so new and has been selling for $30-40 elsewhere.

I've only picked up Oddworld so far. I'm also waiting until Sunday as I have my eye on a few things but I want to see if they'll show up as a daily or a further reduction.

Deadly Shadows, $2.99?? Yoink!

Fucking Steam.....

Bioshock 2 - $22 or close to it

Mass Effect 2 - $23 or around that

....why do we even buy new games anymore? 2-4 months later their prices are slashed in halves or more. Steam is insane. Insane, I say! Publishers should be shaking in their boots. Why the hell doesn't everyone just accept the future and go 90% digital through Steam? Throw a few copies on the shelves for the "refuse-to-give-up-my-hard-copy" crowd and, I don't know, maybe force Bob Kotick to return all those gold toilets he bought.

Sure, it would grow into this grotesque, three-headed beast and force massive industry changes, layoffs, beheadings, etc. in 2021 but screw the future. We could live in the now! The fat cat glory days of dirt cheap gasoline! More, more, more!

My Bioshock 2 on steam was $14.99 USD. Nah, nah…[Image Can Not Be Found]

There might be a wrap-up on the last day re-offering the week's daily bargains. Maybe.

I am managing to move through Zeno Clash with a trainer. Helps to know it's a mere 4 hrs long for a normal player-who-shoots. Much like Portal, that means it'll take me many more hours although it helps speed my progress when I can't die. It is a funny fun bizarro world so I don't mind at all that I must run completely and totally on rails.

Hey Spike!

HalfLife 2 is only $3.39 today. Or is that the one you already purchased? I'm too lazy to read back through the entire thread. The rest of today's (7/2) deals spark no interest in me; therefore, they won't be of interest to anyone else. [Image Can Not Be Found]
