This is slightly old news: http://www.ea.com/1/service-updates

I'm mostly surprised that Battlefield 1942 still had online servers going. I guess I shouldn't be surprised since it was quite something and had a good following when it came out.

Perhaps also of note: Bulletstorm for PS3 will be affected. If you want one last crack at those leaderboards you've got until June 30 (unless any of these get extended, which is a possibility).

Also: Neverwinter Nights (!), which as I understand has had a prolific online community since the start. I'm sure someone will find a way to save this one.

World of Yahtzee? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

If I read that correctly, they're not referring to the MMO Neverwinter, but the old Obsidian games. I'd never have thought some of those still had any infrastructure.

I played Journey last night - I was depressed - and wondered whether I'd see anyone. It's not exactly crowded, but I did have two companions over the course of my trip. Wonder if any university people are doing research on digital ghost towns. It'd be interesting.

Neverwinter Nights has been huge forever because of its reasonably robust adventure creation tools.  Especially at the time, the Aurora toolset was a big deal.  You just didn't have that kind of editor out there that got in not only maps and stuff but story and all that.  Still quite good.

Exactly, so I'm certain that somewhere, some community people will compensate for the loss of these Gamespy hosted services.

I've always intended to finish the campaign of NWN; I still am in possession of some 7-year-old save files. It was a great game engine; I think NWN2 was just a heavily modified version of it, but that game ran atrociously.

The Neverwinter Nights RPG games have always been on my 'to play' list.  I like isometric view RPGs, but just never got around to installing these.  My loss for sure.
