Come on, Toger.  You're as tough an old broad as I am.  If I can handle a few dead spiders, so can you.  I mean, how can spiders be any worse than coming face to face with a bad guy holding a plasma gun, or some such?

I don't do spiders, even dead ones. I can't even watch the older CSIs when the camera is on Grissom at his desk with that huge-ass spider pinned to his wall. I have to close my eyes. Granted, I'm not as bad as others I know, but still...

I'm with Toger. I don't do spiders.

It's not my manliest trait, I realize, but then… I don't really have that many to begin with, so it's no great loss.

Y'see, Spike, the guy with the plasma gun doesn't have eight legs and ten eyes. He doesn't drip venom from his fangs. Give me a good healthy guy with a plasma gun any day over a spider.

Well,  ok, then, Toger and Steerpike.  I've ordered the game, and will report back - not a review, mind you, just a quick synopsis of "spider stuff".  Just enough to start you two on the road to desensitization therapy.  [Image Can Not Be Found]

Which reminds me:  I miss Raj's goofiness.  I hope he is well.

P.S.  If you guys lived in Memphis, you'd really need that therapy.  We grow 'em big down here.  Mosquitos the size of horse flies.  2-3" cockroaches (They are of the variety that are called water bugs, and at least they only want to come inside in the summer, and they don't get into food. And it is only 1 at a time - they don't seem to travel in herds.  But it is still icky to have one fall from the ceiling, on me, while I'm minding my own business.)

I dunno, Spike… desensitization means I have to look at them! [Image Can Not Be Found]

I've been playing James Patterson's Women's Murder Club: A Darker Shade of Grey and the game made me go into a spider-infested basement and spray them with bug spray in order to progress the story. Lemme tell ya, if I'd know I couldn't get out of that damned mini game once I'd started it… ugh. By the third or fourth round of those damned bugs dropping from the top of the screen, I was as far away from my desk as I could get and still reach the keyboard! :shiver: ew! ew! ew!

When I played Heretic Kingdoms, there was a room filled with hatching spiders. I was practically screaming while trying to find my way out of that dungeon!

Did I mention I've almost jumped out a moving car because of an itty-bitty spider climbing down the passenger window (and I was the passenger)?

Yeah, I've seen those big ass bugs that you all grow in the South. Now that my friends have moved to California,  I don't have to fight them off anymore while visiting.

... the bugs, not the friends.

Sounds like how I feel about cockroaches. Shudder. And even the thought of bedbugs. I can't stand the idea of dark insects crawling all over me while I sleep. I once had a dream that bugs were trying to get into my mouth. Not a fun memory.

Interestingly, here's a video of a woman who was cured of her spider phobia:

Kinda cool.

BTW, no free demo, so that I can see if I like it and if it actually runs on my computer?

Notice to Toger and Steerpike:  I ordered LHOD: Tomb of Zojir on Friday night.  It was mailed Saturday (1st class from  San Diego) and arrived today.  I will never understand why it takes the Memphis post office extra days to get mail moving in and out, but outside of here things move quickly; inside the Mem. area mail drags.

What I really wanted to tell you 2 is that you should probably forgo LHOD.  The kind men in white jackets would come to escort you to a very soft room within 10 minutes of opening the DVD package.  You wouldn't even have to install it.  Love those feelies!
