Hi there folks!
Let me introduce myself a little bit. I'm passionate fan of adventure games and a gamer in generally. It has been about 8 years back since I felt the fever to start collecting them. The more obscure, unknown to many - the better.
Honestly I'm a follower of “there's no rest for the wicked” quote, and one day I have found an amazing world of FFC with many interesting threads and informations I read over several times. One of them is still burning in my mind — “Have you heard of this one?“, and I'd really like to resurrect it because of the fond of memories and my hopes are nothing less than make it living once again with your allowance to do so, of course. [Image Can Not Be Found]
Let's start in a familiar way…”Have you heard of this one” - VOID made by Fujitsu Limited, back in 1997-98?
I can't tell much about the gameplay for the time being as I'm just on the start. Anyway, to shed some first feelings, the game has slight touch and taste of “The Journeyman Project” series, and pre-render graphics in 1(st) person perspective view like L-Zone.
To have a chance and opportunity to feel this space-chilling atmosphere here you can grab a picture gallery (beware the file is about ~3MB).

Welcome to Tap-Repeatedly, Wallymian!
I do remember the great “Have you heard of this one?” thread. It was an amazing compendium of rare adventure games data, now lost like some many amazing threads from FFC.
I sold off my collection a couple years ago and moved on to new obsessions but that thread was a major influence in turning me into a collector back then. Some of the more rare ones I once had were (all boxed and complete):
Alice An Interactive Museum
Cosmology of Kyoto
Treasure Hunter
The Case of the Cautious Condor
Orion Burger
The Synnergist
Bud Tucker and Double Trouble
Yellow Brick Road
Yellow Brick Road 2
They all are gone now into other collections. There were several games I never did locate though I can't even remember what they were now.
Hi Spike, and Scout!
Count on me to share more informations when I progress any further in the game.
Yesterday, I spent several hours googling more details about “VOID” with no success — the developer's website has zero-hit-success even when searched by guidance of WayBackMachine.
Scout, I do recognize your nickname from that thread. [Image Can Not Be Found]
What's more to say, I was one of those collectors who took your collection to parts. As far as my memory serves its purpose I bought from you boxed Golden Immortal, Geisha, and have been overbid on The Case of the Cautious Condor auction, that was a first time I've seen it boxed and shrinkwrapped. Too bad, I haven't set a higher amount.
Your collection was a constant worth looking - one of those biggest ones I've ever seen being sold which made me sad on the second thought.
Seeing your list, I'm proud owner nearly half of the mentioned games (boxed, complete and some still shrinkwrapped).
From my collection, to the most treasured gems belong:
- Detritus
- Fascination (CD-Version)
- Fate of the Starlords
- four-sight (incl. original soundtrack and postcards)
- Future Wars: Adventures in Time (CD-Version)
- Golden Immortal (thanks!)
- Hariboy's Quest
- Heaven's Dawn
- L-Zone (Japanese big-flat box)
- Michael Ninn's Shock: The Game
- Museum of Anything Goes, The
- Orion Burger
- Sound & Sight Series: Refixion I
- Sound & Sight Series: Refixion II, Museum or Hospital
- Tlon: A Misty Story
- Trick, or Treat (CD-Version)
- VOID (?)
- Who's Fat Lou?
- Woodspell
- Yellow Brick Road II
- all the “Who Killed…” whodunnit series
… and several other I can't remember for this moment, or English beta/demo versions.
These games I'll search for the rest of my life, I can only hope in my body and mind longevity.
- Amazon: Guardians of Eden (CD-Version)
- Case, The
- Cosmology of Kyoto
- Crash Garret (English floppy version)
- Fort Boyard: The Legend (English)
- Igor: Objective Uikokahonia (English CD-Version)
- J.B. Harold: Blue Chicago Blues
- Paris C.I.T.Y.2000
- Sound & Sight Series: Refixion III, Reindeer Story
… et cetera, many to mention. [Image Can Not Be Found]

Hey Wallymian,
I remember you now. It was knowing that careful collectors like you were buying that made it easier and probably possible. If I thought the games were going to less than serious collectors, I probably wouldn't have sold. I have zero regrets and enjoy the thought that all the games are in new homes.
Congrats for unearthing the old thread!! [Image Can Not Be Found] After your original post I took a look at the Way Back Machine but didn't see it. I wonder if there is a way to archive it on site. I'll ask.
I remember Igor: Objective Uikokahoni. I looked and looked and never did find it in any version other than a demo on a CD with a bunch of other games. It was sort of an obsession for a long time. Amazons: Guardians of Eden CD version was on eBay many years ago, a couple of times and went for a reasonable price but I always got overbid. I got Cosmology of Kyoto, Case of the Cautious Condor and the English version of Fascination all from the same collector back when I was starting out. We met on Gameboomers and he was selling off most of his collection.
Thanks for starting this thread. It's inspiring to see all those game titles again, several I've never heard of.
Wally, I see that you are playing Yoomurjak's Ring. I know that it has been released in Hungary, and is available as a download from The Adventure Shop. I've been waiting for this one since the first announcement a few years ago. I wouldn't mind playing a game with English subtitles, but I wonder if this would cause a problem in solving some puzzles. I love FMV games, and I love 360º panning.
What is your first language, Wally, and are you having any trouble with Yoomurjak's ring?
"…you just keep on trying 'til you run out of cake."
Hey Wallymian, good to see you posting here. I remember that FFC thread well, it was one of the best threads to be found on the web about the more obscure adventure games out there. Heh, now that it is resurrected, I need to ask you for more info about a few of the games on your list. 🙂
Fate of the Starlords
Woodspell
What can you tell me about these games? I don't think I've ever heard of them. Same with VOID, I'd never heard of that game either before you brought it up! Thanks alot for posting the pictures and a bit of info on it. Where did you first hear of this game? Is it in English? VOID looks pretty cool, I'll have to keep an eye out to buy a copy on ebay or something.
I don't really have any obscure games to add. The only titles I can think of right now is 'The Romantic Blue' (developed by the guy behind the Last Half of Darkness games) and 'The Displacement' which is Jonathon Boakes earliest developed games before he found success with his Darkfall franchise.
Wow, it seems this thread goes more and more crowded!
@ Scout,
The topic I dug up originates from my personal 'thread collection' I made few years ago. The WayBackMachine can hit only back to 2007 with very limited chance to thread listing.
Too bad I didn't make backup of more interesting topics, there's no more *blast from the past* except of this one I already posted, and 'Yellow Brick Road 2' which I have somewhere well hidden atm.
Thanks for sharing informations “how you got paws to some of your games” — for me it's very inspiring reading. I'd give a longest journey to prove Igor's English CD-Version might be Beta only (same as Hollywood Monsters). Except of the JustAdventure review and the hopes raising notice in, I found only this pre-buy info:
Complete with digitized voices, full stereo music,
and extensive animation sequences that really take
you into Igor's world. CD-ROM ONLY.
AVAILABLE AUGUST 1, 1995.
@ Spike,
I've started playing 'Yoomurjak's Ring' last week in my spare time, and the progression is not much then being on a second day in a story. At this time I'm not capable to provide some satisfactory insider's rating but I do enjoy this game. 360° panning is nearly perfect, and the story is pretty good unfolding and catching my highest expectations. I purchased Yoomurjak on TAS, and so far all the language related puzzles very perfectly translated to English (the developers must kept that in mind before this release — papers/books/docs have translation in graphics and hotspots).
My first language is Czech, you surely made a recognition among all the other native speakers, right? [Image Can Not Be Found]
@ Hiya Lakerz!
Sure thing, I played both games for a few minutes and put them on my TODO list, but almighty google gave me an useful informations.
Fate of the Starlords (tap the link)
So far I've found two different cover versions, and both were jewelcase only. The first one, initiate (and harder to find), and later v3.2 that can be easily tracked on internet, or eBay (the link has depicted easy-to-find, second cover version).
I consider it a stinker after few minutes of gameplay, but a valuable collection material.

Woodspell
A kiddie title, but with beautiful graphics, and music. Developed by the same company (Mediola), and in the same year as Who's Fat Lou? Giving me a sweet recognition of unreleased Woody, and upcoming The Whispered Wor(l)d.
>> Check these screenshots <<
VOID
This title I found by a lucky hit on abroad auction site among other stuff. It's boxed and complete. At first, I had strong belief it's only rendered landscape so-called envirosimulator - how much I have been wrong. It's pure space adventure game about virtual reality system called “Illusion “. It's Japanese game but perfectly understandable due to English dubbing, and graphics. Only subtitles, and hints on the CD are left in Japanese — a tiny handicap to this found, isn't it?.
To your mantioned games. Yes, I have heard about 'Romantic Blue' but would like to hear more informations, and your opinion when possible. Lakeeerz, where you got it? I searched each and every corner — no luck so far.
Hmmm, 'The Displacement' never heard of, until now when I made search & found an interview with J.Boakes where he mentioned it's unreleased, shareware only. Do you happen to have this version?
I'm really exciting to this thread. How about this one:
Wyatt Earp's: Old West

Hiya Wallymian, welcome to the site!
We are working with a SQL programmer to recover what we can of the old FFC forums. With luck we may be able to resuscitate not only the original beloved thread that spawned this one, but as much of Bollocks as humanly possible as well. Stay tuned!

Hello Steerpike,
These are fantastic news to read -- I'll keep all my tentacles and fingers crossed to make this operation: 'get all the bowels back' successful. [Image Can Not Be Found]

Well, Wally, I think you've convinced me to download Yoomurjak's Ring from TAS. I don't usually like downloading games because I can't loan them to friends, trade them, or sell them when I'm finished. But I've been waiting a long time for this one, and there aren't too many FMV games around that I want to play.
Thanks for the info.

The issue, frustratingly, is that the forums are in fine shape - compromised, but nothing is missing. The problem lies in the fact that the old forum system is in no way shape or form compatible with the new one, so we gotta figure out a way to first re-access what the hackers messed up (not hard) and then stuff it into the new forum (hard). We'll keep you all posted!

I played this game sometime in the 90's, my guess is 94-ish to 96/97 maybe. It was a DOS only game that I had to configure a custom boot for in Win 95 with mouse drivers, etc. I didn't finish it, and didn't really get very far, but I'd say it was an adventure game although the genre's were pretty blurry sometimes. I think it was well thought of, but I don't see it on any of the best-of lists I can still find. So. You played as a mechanically enhanced character. I think you start out in a jail cell and have to escape. The only thing I really remember clearly was combat. In combat mode your keypad had a key for each attack. Attacking was done just by hand and foot. Combat was pretty funky looking, a cross between that old school console Black-Belt game and Disco inferno. To escape from the cell, you had to defeat a one armed opponent who was much stronger than you by taking advantage of his weak side. Ok, the game had a mining theme, but I think they all did in 1995.
Anybody else play this or remember the title?

Hi Spike, to be honest YsR was my only second game purchased online -- as I share the same opinion of a physical medium and their advantage in many ways. [Image Can Not Be Found]
Have you any progressed in the game, how about your first feelings?

Hiya collectors!
How many different covers have you ever seen for Yellow Brick Road 2?
So far I stumbled upon two of them, not significantly different by means of main theme but the diversion is visible and noticeable.
It's time for show up! [Image Can Not Be Found]
