Hey! I hope you all don't mind. I've started a new thread because I can't see any posts after June for some reason. If anyone's replied to me (including Scout perhaps ??), please copy and paste your reply to this thread and continue from here.

I'm presumimg (hopefully correctly), that I'll be able to see everything in this new thread. Thanks, Steerpike and Spike for all your help and advice on this). [Image Can Not Be Found] I will try my best to not be a severe pain in the ARSE any more. At least I'll try! ………………. [Image Can Not Be Found] [Image Can Not Be Found]

Hi folks,

Just dropping by to say hello. Haven't been around much due to some family things. Haven't even updated the website for ages and ages. But I felt like saying hello to some old pals, so here goes. [Image Can Not Be Found]

Has anyone found any gems lately? I know that at least some of you are still looking for the elusive 'non-existent' games. I managed to find a boxed The Blobjob recently, so I'm happy that at least one of my never ending quests is at an end. Got a couple of others too. But this one is by far the most satisfying. No idea when I'll get time to play it though. Hopefully this year. [Image Can Not Be Found]

Anyway, good to talk again. Hope everyone is well and happy. [Image Can Not Be Found]

Edit ********** Yippppeeee! I can see it.

Steerpike, can you make this the new sticky thread please? As well as the original because the original has so much useful info and nice pics. Thanks. 🙂

Holy rolly Rocky,   I have been lost in Oblivion trying to keep Martin alive.   Gelert,  I had no idea you had been locked up in detention somewhere and only recently been released.  I have no idea why you disappeared.  I have no idea what you stand for.

But Gelert, be assured that whatever you stand for or want to say,  I believe in your right to do so. Even if, after reading what you say, my response is "bull shit".   Gelert,  it isn't yet.  But it might be sometime.

Welcome or (as the case might be) welcome back or whatever.  [Image Can Not Be Found]

Hello there fellow Repeatedly-Tappers,

I have been back out of the community and adventure games for several weeks, these were a painful days. But the sunlight beams once again heat my heart as days are getting better.

Yay, Gelert you have resurrected this thread for one more time. [Image Can Not Be Found]

I remember having the same problems you mentioned in the original thread — the problem was in earlier version of Mozilla Firefox and I partially solved it by using MS Internet Explorer. Now even Mozilla is okay and everything is working smooth.

When asking for some elusive titles to be found, yes there are a few I'm now humbly holding in my collection (but The BlobJob is definately a damn nice gem to hold [Image Can Not Be Found]).

Some of them are exotic Non-English versions, or still unplayed to give out some valid informations. To be more specific:

Alice: An interactive Museum (Synergy), partially shrinkwrapped initiate dual language Japanese version

Case of the Cautious Condor, The, boxed PC version

Crash Garrett, English floppy version

Dark Chaser & Mars Blade, still unplayed but both are most probably Japanese only interactive adventure games considering from the pictures

J. B. Harold: Blue Chicago Blues, Japanese 5 CDROMs PC version with English speech (the JAP subtitles could be easily translated), Korean version has 6 CDROMs as the last one is game soundtrack.

Refixion II: Museum or Hospital, Macintosh only

RenderOrgan (Synergy), still unplayed

Finally!! The Case, Russian version, still unplayed

VOID, Promo CDROM demo sampler

Witch of the Salzburg, still unplayed

@ scout:

Of curse I'll take some pictures from my collection, especially the Golden Immortal's new home but I'd like to re-arrange the games at first and put the collection to one solid place when possible. So far they are pilled in any not occupied corners and shelves. 🙂

@ lakerz:

Yes, you  hit – Victorian Park is Japanese game to my last knowledge. There are emissions for Mac Pipin and PC. I have PC version and from the short experience it's adventure game where you should visit 4 fairground attractions to get access into 5th one. Possibly only Japanese language only exist with no solution for subtitles.

Hmm, your storaging tips are good ones, maybe a wacky for somebody but for those constant space-fighters very usefull. [Image Can Not Be Found]

  Hi Wallymian!

You found The Case! I'm VERY impressed ....... EVEN if it is the Russian version!

Tell me how you found it pleeeeease! I wasn't sure it existed, even though one of the developers assured me that an English version was actually made. Do you know if the English one DEFINITELY exists Wallymian? Russian is of little interest to me, but if tere's a Russian one, there may well be an English one too ........ SWOOOOOOOON! [Image Can Not Be Found]

Please shoe us some pics when you have time. Four-sight included. And can you say for sure which of those rare ones you have are English versions, or if English versions exist. Very interesting and .............. very cool Wallymian! [Image Can Not Be Found]

Gelert, you weren't the only one having trouble viewing the original thread.  I too was having issues for some weird reason.  I can view it okay at work using IE but not at home using IE!  I guess they are different versions or something stupid like that, heh.  Dang, you finally found a boxed Blobjob?  Boxed Blobjob....sounds strangely perverted hehehe.  I wonder how many boxed copies of that game there are total?  Can't be too many.

Wallymian, are those all games that you've acquired since your last posting here?!?  If so, holy cow, you've been very busy scouring the world for these rarities!  I had a boxed Alice Interactive at one time, but I traded it away for a boxed Treasure Hunter.  I definitely regret trading that away.  Dark Chaser/Mars Blade .... these two I've not heard anything about.  I guess that makes some sense though since I mostly focused my attention on the English language games.

J.B. Harold: Blues Chicago Blues  - I know you've talked about this game before, but I've heard so little about it.  What year did it release again?  That's really sweet that you finally found the English version.  I'm interested in your thoughts as you play this game.

Refixion II: Definitely interested in hearing your thoughts on this title also!  Same goes for RenderOrgan...

Like Gelert, I'm very intrigued on your impressions of The Case and any pictures you can show us here.  This has to be one of the most elusive and mystical games I've ever read about!

Did you ever play your way through to the finish of The Void?  If so, I'd like to hear your on that game when you get the chance.  I don't think I've ever heard of Witch of the Salzburg.  What kind of game is it?  Is it English language?  Who is the publisher/developer and what is the release year???

Hi LakerZ! [Image Can Not Be Found]

Have you stumbled on any gems lately? I'm out of touch with what anyone has discovered in the way of rare English language adventures in the last few months. Wallymian has told me he's uncovered some crackers, but no-one else really. Collecting, and collector talk, has dropped off completely and will probably never recover I guess. It's a shame, as the console game retro 'scene' always appears to simmer along at a steady rate. Not so much for older and hard-to-find PC games though.

Blobjob was indeed a satisfying 'find'. A gift from a very generous benefactor in fact. So, even better. [Image Can Not Be Found]

I'd love to see more pictures of NMG's The Case too - both screenshots and game packaging. [Image Can Not Be Found]

Hiya Gelert,

Nope, I haven't stumbled across any new rarities.  I have my tried and true saved ebay search list for a few titles that never seem to get a hit.  I did stumble across that link to the Amazon seller with a bunch of 'Blue Heat' for sale, but that's about it.  I'm not sure why the whole adventure game collector scene just died off the past 18 months.  I guess ultimately the adventure game scene is a small world so to speak.  The diehard collectors already have their copies to keep forever, and the not so diehards already found their copy to play and then sell off to the next person.  Also, I think console games will always hold their purported value more than PC just because console gaming is so much more stable.  If you own the console in working condition, you are guaranteed to be able to play the game again, even 20 years later.  How many people still own a working 286 PC with DOS 5.0?  I know Dosbox and VirtualPC are great programs, but it's just not the same.

Who knows though, I think most all games have a finite shelflife when it comes to having collector value, and this applies to console games as well.  For example, I have a couple Sega Saturn and PS1 games that are still sought after even today, but I have my doubts if that will continue 10 years into the future.  I still hold onto them though because they have value to me beyond the money side of things.

Lakerz, one day those games will be precious - they just won't be valuable.

Right now, games are like movies in the 1930s. Everyone is still sort of feeling their way around, and we're a couple years out from Gone with the Wind, City Lights, and The Wizard of Oz. Give it time.

Thing is, in today's modern world where data is cheap, owning original copies of those things won't matter much. We all have parents' basements with a wealth of silent-screen gaming riches in them. Think of your collection not as an investment, but as a way of owning the precious past.

Life is the misery we endure between disappointments.

I guess I have to agree with lakerz. I had the beginnings of a good PC adventure game collection but when push came to shove and it was sell my car or sell my game collection, it was bye bye games. I do remember a time when I would look over at the games on the shelf and wonder why I had them. I doubt I played 10% of them…

I did have a working 286 with DOS 5.0 though. In fact I made it a point to have a system for every game I owned, even the occasional Mac game. Otherwise, it just wasn't the same. It was the same for foreign language games. If there wasn't at least a slim chance to play the game I just didn't want to own it. Which limited me in the end. Also proabably  why I wasn't a sealed only, perfect, spotless game collector. And once I started selling the games on eBay, I just kept going until they were all gone. Whatever obsession seized me…and I think a lot of it was spurred on by game forums that encouraged mindless game buying…went up in smoke.

I do like the idea that people like Wallymian, Gelert and lakerz have these games in good hands though. When I hear about people tossing boxes and whole game collections in the trash, I cringe. So all I can say to Gelert is if this is something that still gives you satisfaction, don't let the downturn in interest dismay you. The next cycle will find you sitting on a gold mine and the envy of a new, totally obsessed generation of collectors. [Image Can Not Be Found]

I managed to find a boxed Armaëth: The Lost Kingdom this week. Haven't seen it around much before. Anyone know if it's rare enough to be called a rare collectible? Not the CD-ROM version though; 3.5" diskettes. Looks nice though. [Image Can Not Be Found]

Gelert, I think that Armaeth is considered pretty rare and hard to locate in addition to being very obscure.  I remember trying to play it long ago and finding it really frustrating!  If I remember the game correctly, the U.I. has like 50 icons...one for every action you would want to do.  It was really confusing, even after looking through the manual.

  Hi Lakerz.

Yes. I've read about over-complicated controls too. It's a quaint looking game though. Perhaps, one day, I may even try playing it. Might have to wheel out the old GX Pro though. [Image Can Not Be Found]
