I've been looking forward to this, but wondering if I should jump on the game at release, or wait for a while to see what add-on packs or DLC might be released at a later time.  I guess I'm gonna have to wait awhile for the game.  No point in overspending when a GOTY edition is probably already in the works.  No word on just what and add-ons or DLC might be, but I read this on the    fallout.wikia.com   site:

Downloadable content was officially announced to be in the works on
August 18th, 2010. There is no information out about any of the DLC that
is being worked on, only that they will be released "shortly after
release".

I'm still enjoying kickin' around the old world, so I probably won't rush out and grab it straight away - might see if they discount on the PSN, then pick it up.

Day one for me. I'm sorely in need of a new Fallout.

I'm not a cheapskate, but I could probably find a deal on the GOTY edition and save enough (compared to buying a la carte) for another game.

On July 20th when I started playing my modded game I was at 574 hours played.  I'm probably at about 600-610 hrs. now.  Fallout 3 was the best game value ever.  That's 13¢ per hour.  Ain't much one can have fun at for those pennies.  So paying whatever the a la carte prices come to, it will be another good deal.  I also think that it would be fun to install the whole shebang at once, since I didn't do that with F3.  And maybe my impatience will get the better of me.

If Fallout Online ever manages to get its shit together....

That's okay. I don't think you're cheap. I'm just impatient and mostly don't have a  life right now.

Spike, I admire delayed gratification - I'm a big practitioner myself. However, based on historical evidence, you might want to consider pitching a tent in Scout's camp.

Release date Fallout 3 (PC, NA): Oct. 28, '08

Release date Fallout 3 GOTY (PC, NA): Oct. 13, '09

Do you really want to wait a full year? That's 365 days give or take while you read about other gamers' adventures in Vegas? [Image Can Not Be Found]

I don't do it often, but part of the fun of playing a popular game (unlike adventure-nitch games) is the new-release experience: sharing newbie stories & asking newbie questions with all the other newbies since everyone playing is a newbie.

This is one of the few games I've ever pre-ordered. I rarely buy a game without reading at least a handful of reviews, but I know I want this.

I've even pre-ordered the collectors edition because I am a nerd.[Image Can Not Be Found]

I think you've convinced me to cough up the dough early on.  Or you've given me a good excuse for doing what I will be most inclined to do anyway next month.

Either some of us will be playing in Bollocks before Thanksgiving, or we'll all be trying to work our way through piles of unplayed games that have been gathering dust for 'lo these many months/years.  Or cleaning out our Steam libraries.

In the meantime, I get to have Rhem 4 in a couple of weeks.  The end of the line for this game series.  Assassin's Creed I & II are still calling to me, but I'm resisting.  Also have a few others set to release before the end of the year that I'm looking forward to.

A dedicated gamer's work is never done (thankfully).
