Because I didn't want to take over the "What are you Playing?" thread with this game that sucks time in a very magical way (yesterday I somehow played almost 4 straight hours without being aware of it)
I'm beginning to have doubts about Claire. I don't want to give anything away, but based on a couple of cut scenes I'm thinking she's not what she appears. I could be wrong, it's happened before. Once. [Image Can Not Be Found]
I'm now equipped with a lovely automatic something or other with scope and flashlight, grenades (which make a satisfying "fwonk" sound when fired), foam canisters and underwater breathing apparatus. Somewhere along the way I picked up a piece of some form-fitting armor that looks like chainmail.
Sneaking up on guards and using melee is fun! Jumping can be problematic at times. And I absolutely hate the guards with the arm-mounted rocket launcher + armor-plated shield. They are crazy hard to take out!

I just got started, Toger, so I'm way behind you. It's amazing how long it's taking me to get used to a Metroid like game after so many years of 3D!
I'm traveling this week, so I'll fall even further behind, but these 1200 Microsoft Points are my ticket out of having to buy Batman: Arkham Asylum, so you can be sure I'll be frequenting this thread often!
Life is the misery we endure between disappointments.
It took me a good 30 minutes to finally get the hang of 2D side-scrolling again. The first five minutes of the game, I couldn't figure out why I wasn't moving towards/away from the camera. [Image Can Not Be Found]
I still can't aim with the right stick to save my life.
And could someone explain to me why I must spend the day here at work instead of home playing?

Once more into the breech:
My reluctant hero found a full-on set of specialized armor... well, full except for the 5 missing pieces he must now find. [Image Can Not Be Found] I located one and it makes him run faster... through special walls. It's freakin' hilarious to see him speeding through anything that's in the way, including enemies!
Even with the missing pieces of armor, our hero (I can't remember his name [Image Can Not Be Found] ) can now take out combatants in one punch. He also has a "stomp" that shakes the immediate area. I haven't used that much as it requires timing on my part.
One of more recent mini-bosses was a lone guy in a special suit that could take me down in one hit - which happened once - at which point I used my tried and true method of raining down the grenades. That'll teach him to mess with me!
I'm now headed back to the not-quite-sure-I-trust-you Claire. The map has me going to an unexplored part of the map, which is odd... I'm pretty sure I left her someplace completely different.

How could I forget our reluctant hero's name is Jason?! Aren't all heroes named Jason or James or John?
I can haz missles. Fear me.
I'd like to officially state that I hate the fact that Jason does not change direction well mid-jump. Matter of fact, changing direction in order to jump can be problematic as he likes to walk backwards... just in case there's a need to fire that freakin' huge gun at something behind him. I've threatened him on numerous ocassions only to have those threats fall on deaf ears.
Did some underwater exploring and accidently found ourselves on the wrong side of a one-way door. We were made to backtrack clear across the map to get back to hunting for Claire. We did find some goodies along the way, but man! what a trek.

Sunny California? You definitey weren't in San Francisco, then. [Image Can Not Be Found]
I got the grappling hook last night. I can get into some formally out-of-reach places a lot easier. Came up against a walker (think more elegant Imperial Walker) the size of a building. Not only did it shoot missles (based on the blast effect and subsequent white light, I'm inclined to believe their payload is nuclear... small warhead, but still ) from its front-mounted cannon, it shoots an array of foam out its butt. If I hadn't spent so much time trying to wiggle my way clear of the foam, I'd have been laughing. Actually I did laugh. I came ][ close to taking it out in our first encounter only to be so low on health after all the foam attacks that it took me out first. Tonight, *I* win that battle.

Finished! With 70% completion of the hidden items. The "hardcore" may be able to finish in 5-6 hours; however, my time was just under 12 hours total.
And I was right in my suspicions, but I won't say about what in case Steerpike isn't done. The game was definitely fun and well worth the 1200 MS points (what is that $10, $15? I can never remember what their actual dollar value is. And I'm too lazy to work it out. [Image Can Not Be Found])

I so wanted to take out that chopper! I'm considering playing again to see if I can find everything. I want the full armor - I found everything but the helmet although I know where it is but hadn't found enough passkeys to get through the door. And the final gun is sweet. (did I just say "sweet"?)
