Because Yoormurjak's Ring is making me use brain cells that have long since gone dormant, I needed something mindless so I picked up Sacred 2 - they had me at Diablo-like; anything mentioned after that was pure gravy. I'm currently running a Light-worshiping Dryad with a bow and blowgun. I may - if I can - turn her into a sword-weilding mass o' destruction as I'm all about swords dripping acid, poison or fire.

What I hate:

The mini-map is almost useless as it's too small to really tell where I am. I can toggle out to the main map to get my bearings, but I'm likely to get ambused which brings me to my second dislike;

No ability to pause... for. any. reason. WTF? How the hell do I swap out equipment or check my location if I'm going to get attacked?! I died within the first minute of the game - no exaggeration - because I was fumbling with the controls and didn't realize the game wasn't paused. [Image Can Not Be Found] Apparently the only safe places to fiddle with my equipment/spells/hair is in town.

Respawning - but then, how else do I level up if I can't lay the smack-down on the same enemies over and over again?

The ridiculous armoured bra & panties the female heroes are forced to wear. um... if my rippling abs are exposed that's pretty much an "achilles heel" in the real world.

What I like:

The sheer joy invoked when laying said smack-down on the same enemies over and over again.

Night and day cycles, watching leaves/pollen drift into the air when I walk through the tall weeds, splashing in the surf.

Lots of side-quests. I haven't even tried to do the first part of the main quest as I keep accepting fetch quests from just about everyone I meet.

Heroes chest: If I decide to play the game as another character items stored in the chest will be available for my subsequent characters. Of course, I'm a mercenary wench and anything I don't want I sell so I'm not sure how much there would be in that chest.

I am so glad you are enjoying Sacred 2. I made it through Sacred, but this game finally, absolutely & postively, convinced me I don't like actiony hack'n'slash rpgs. Burning question for me: does that mean no Diablo 3? What about Divinity 2?

I could not force myself to play Dungeon Siege 2 (played D.S. with Jen) although I tried many times.  Then came Scared 2 - funny, gorgeous, humongeous world with hundreds of quests. Those factors would surely bury my dislike for respawning. I've gone back at least five times, played two character to lvl 10 (or so), still installed, but I cannot make myself have fun. Sad. That said, I trust you will enjoy yourself. 360 on a big-screen tv? It must look amazing. [Image Can Not Be Found]

It looks freakin' amazing!

I haven't played an action RPG in a while so I'm thinking it's just what I needed. Never did the original Sacred or Dungeon Siege. And it's okay if you don't have fun to put it away, because that's just what I did with Oblivion. It wasn't scratching my RPG itch at all. So I gave up on it. I've found that I'm not a fan of first person shooters masquerading as an RPG.

I think I've found a broken quest: took care of a slaver - even got the "Slave Trader defeated" message across the screen but it still shows on my map which is odd. And no, there isn't anyone to report back to for this particular quest. I also managed to get trapped between a cave wall and treasure chest while a seemingly invincible bat beat on me. Couldn't get around the chest at all, so I had to drop back to my most recent save... several miles to the east! I keep forgetting to save! [Image Can Not Be Found] feh!

Since my minute-old death in the beginning, I've only died twice - 1) got mobbed in a cave and couldn't drink a health potion fast enough; and 2) some stinkin' little Kobold chieftan set my ass on fire. He will pay. As part of another quest, I have some nut-job Elf soldier tagging along with me who seems to think he's got a legion of soldiers in his back pocket as he's always yelling "Legion to me!" during fights. Mind you, he's not doing too much fighting, but the yelling is certainly helpful in pointing out our location to enemies.

Well, I've taken a lesson from the Yapette Method of RPG Play (pat. pend.) and restarted with a Temple Guardian - think mechanical Anubis whose left arm ends in a plasma-like gun that's great for ranged combat. In his right hand he's currently sporting a sword that I just upgraded to include a freezing (or is it lightning?) spell. Can't wait to try that out! Anubis' arm also shoots a stream of fire - like a flame thrower - what's not to like?

I tried saving the tag-along Elf Lt quest until I'd done some others - hoping to keep him alive longer - but the AI is so stupid that he just waded into the battle with the pirates and got us both killed. Needless to say, the High Elf commander was not amused and called me names even after I cleared out the pirate camp! A pox on him and his descendants!

I have finally figured out how the save system and its resurrection points works. Only took me a week. [Image Can Not Be Found] I've also discovered there's a limit to how much crap I can collect/carry - not that the game tells you when you reach that limit. It continues to let you think you're picking stuff up when in fact you're not. Due to that little oversight, I've got a partially completed quest that will haunt me the rest of the game.

bah!
