This thread will no doubt contain spoilers surrounding New Vegas and the robot companion known as ED-E (pronounced "EE-DEE-EE"). If you wish to avoid such spoilers then halt! Do not proceed. Turn back. No mutants allowed.

For the rest of us, what's up with this crazy, honor-student-offspring-producing robot? Obviously you know to what I'm referring: surely you've tripped across people, places or things throughout the wasteland that provoke pre-recorded dialogues to emit from ED-E's memory banks.

I don't know if they're intended to appear in an entirely linear fashion, if certain people/conversations/words provoke preset recordings, if it doesn't matter what order you go in, or if you just have to be lucky (maybe Luck actually is a factor?)

Please share what recordings you've found, if any, and what they've lead you to believe!

As for me...

I found my first log while I was talking to an NCR guard at the front door of the HELIOS One power plant. I don't know what word triggered it exactly, but the recording went something along these lines: a fellow from Adams Air Force base, who is a researcher for the Eyebot robot line, for whatever reasons sends ED-E to Navarro outpost (I don't know where this is), but he also mentions Chicago.

The second log I uncovered while I was in a secret Brotherhood bunker speaking with some random (though named) lieutenant. Once again, I'm not sure what phrase triggered the recording, but this recording seems to believe that ED-E has reached Navarro outpost. Not much is divulged here, except that this fellow from Adams was doing research on Poseidon Energy.

Share your crazy ED-E theories!

I discovered another... uh, transmission... thing? I've lent ED-E to the Followers of the Apocalypse for research and upgrading. I don't know if this is the abrupt end to its quest line, but I certainly hope not. ED-E is so much better than Rex.

Well, this quest ended in quite unremarkable fashion. I feel silly for starting this topic now!

lI just picked E-DE up as a buddy.    I am trying to figure out how to use it, him, her.   We will see.    But right now I have Boone and E-DE as my companions.   It is early days yet for me.

I am loving this game,  My greatest achievement so far is to make the robot in Prim into the Sheriff and it is a peaceful, thriving community.  I have no idea what I will do next except I still need to get to someplace and find Benny.

Kay, I just started today and am puttering around Goodsprings. Looks like it will be a lot of fun.

Good work, Kay. Getting E-DE early on in the game is very helpful. I kicked Boone to the curb because he's a sullen sort (and didn't fit with my robots and alcoholic lesbians group vibe, Cassie is much better for that), but E-DE's indispensable.

I never had the programming skill to make Prim Slim the sheriff, so I went with the ex-con instead. I haven't been back to Prim to check on the place and see whether that was a wise move. I should do so.

Life is the misery we endure between disappointments.
