@Helmut: Really appreciate your suggestion for the name change, but see below. O&S at NG+ have reduced me to a blubbing thumb-sucking wreck. How's about: SimpleNoobButNowWithSomeDarkAndComplicatedBitsSpawnedFromHisTimeSpentGazingIntoTheDarkSoulsAbyss? How good are you at Photoshop? (lol)
@xtal: I've been hitting the 'cyclical endlessness' wall on NG+ harder than on any of my NG playthroughs. Keep having thoughts like "Oh yeah, that's where I have to go to collect - oh no, wait, I've already got it..." Now in Anor Londo having completely skipped Lower Undead Burg and the Depths cuz I just didn't see the point. Already having second thoughts about finishing NG+. It's got too existential.
@SB: Remember what I said about needing help if I got hopelessly stuck? I'm hopelessly stuck. For the first time ever, I'm trying to take Smough down first and then Ornstein, and waiting till NG+ to do that...yeah. Not going well. Must have had at least 15 attempts and the best I've done is get Super-O down to about 60% health. If you have an SL100 character in the AL area and a bit of time in the next few days, maybe we could coordinate time zones for even more sessions of grim soul-crushing failure and despair a spot of jolly co-op. Let me know. (Warning: Solaire is often better than I am, and I am still utterly capable of walking through the fog wall and getting crushed within ten seconds. Oh yes.)

My highest is a lvl 95. I also have an 80 and 72. I'll check online periodically. Are you on Steam? I'm wizaard on there as well.

Lvl 95 should be OK. By my internet USCT is 5-6 hours behind GMT so I guess it'll depend on whether you can log on during the day. Yes, I'm on steam as simplen00b. Heading out right now but may be able to go on-line in a couple of hours - will drop you a line. :O)

Dark Souls is finally ditching GFWL for Steamworks. I think that if you bought your copy on Steam, it will update automatically (and preserve saves I hope).

I logged on for a while yesterday, just playing around with a new character and got invaded three times in a pretty short time period. This is as busy as I've ever seen it on PC. Summon signs everywhere as well.

I popped on over the weekend to test a couple things out - still in Anor Londo. You're right Botch, the timings between 1 and 2 are different enough that I felt quite out of my element for a while, but I can't quite put a finger on what's different. Got invaded a couple of times, and summoned once or twice, but I still have little success summoning players into my world. Those few signs that appear usually result in a failed summon, which is irritating since I suck at this game.

I tried logging on last night but as my internet connection was playing up, dear old GfWL would only allow me to start a new game from scratch. Roll on December...

GFWL is no more. Verified first-hand. The instructions are crap - vague and unclear. Just point your executable to the specified beta and load up the game. I wonder if this will improve the multi-player connections (I know people are definitely still playing)?

Some of my favourite details:
- the boulder in Sen's Fortress
- the secret bonfire in Darkroot Garden
- the subtle blue flames, and the staircase to the abyss that abruptly ends in New Londo
- the broken window in Anor Londo
It's amazing how accurate a portrayal of that world a flat drawing can be! Ughhhhhhh so good!!

You can see a bit of it near the bottom left (which is not where you'd look, since the Great Hollow is on the right side); there's an opening and you can see the trees.
