Just letting the gang know I bought, installed and am starting my journey about Dragons. The Other Dragons.

Not abandoning Dragon Age completely but it's a complicated AAA title that should be savored. Players must comprehend...and strategize...tasks I have no patience for at the mo'. Best I can do is move forward in itty bitty bytes. In the meantime, I may slash & shoot (guns!) through Farewell to Dragons with minimal understanding.

PS: controls so far have been less that optimal, especially the camera, something I hope to improve by reassigning keys.

Welp, the Land Shark I fought last night was blue…a Water Elemental. Actually, the second time with this particular Shark. First time my team was about to die so I exited the game to level beyond 2 & plan a strategy before we met.

Other tricky situation has been meeting bands of lvl 40 skellies when me & my team are lvl 3-5. No chance whatsoever besides running for our lives (with my character the laggard having no +running stats).

Still struggling with camera rotate = middle mouse button. Like it doesn't work despite loading mouse software (something I never use), remapping & fiddling for three days. Almost made a Help! post pleading for suggestions on remapping keys. Finally decided it was a combo player shortcoming/poorly desgined game issue that cannot be improved by remaps. [Image Can Not Be Found]

There are better games out there but I am drawn to this one. No logic at all. “I” btw am a contemporary (21st century) doctor who gets into this mess when I find a 13 yr. old girl collapsed outside my door (!), follow her (!!), fall down a slope & end up in the game world. [Image Can Not Be Found] Slowly I'm learning where I am, why some call me “Lord” or offer to be my slave. I have just learned my first magic. Apparently, I alone can do both - magic & melee….eventually, very well.  We'll see…..[Image Can Not Be Found]

I'm thrilled the game is on Steam. With greater distributiion, maybe I can find someone else who can't rotate the camera.  And writes in English. ;)

Sounds vaguely familiar... You haven't seen anyone dressed as a large rabbit wearing a waistcoat & a pocket watch, have you? Has anyone started singing "I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date"?

I made it to the train station across the map from Meadows and killed that water elemental and party. Then I hadda quit 'cause it's bedtime, but I can hardly wait to play again. The Outlander is the weak sister in my party. It took a buttload of potions to keep him alive.

I dialed the mouse sensitivity all the way down and now the screen-moving is tolerable.

The Outlander is my tank whether he wants to be or not. We're all around lvl 12 & just picked up the final 6th member. Assigning points & equipping us in stay-alive, class appropriate gear is driving me to drink! [Image Can Not Be Found]

Currently I'm hoarding Victor's points, waiting for lvl 13 & fireball ----> [Image Can Not Be Found]

Tele is pure heal.

Outlander has axe & shield.

Don't think you've met the next female.  Yet.

FYI, I have a broken quest about a dagger in the Raven Camp. Emma refuses to talk with me although I've been back 4x.

I do have that woman from the inn, Rada(?). Rada the raida! I have four so far, the Outlander, Rada, moi, and Telle, who I just got back in time for the train station battle. She has a couple of good offensive spells, but they take forever to recharge. I think I'll make her an archer. I gave my Outmoded an axe as well. Great minds... [Image Can Not Be Found]

Helmet, this is as good a place as any to carry this discussion onward: since when do threads stay ontopic @ FFC?

Your linked player is why my WoW Break has lastest 13 months & counting. I just can't take the game, any game, that seriously. If my lvl 70 has any achievements, she earned them by accident & random chance.

Reason I'm enjoying A l g a n o n (my google foil, will it work?) is due more to sociological rather than gamecological reasons. I'm Margaret Mead in situ. [Image Can Not Be Found] Personalities, alliances, disagreements, the whole kaboodle. And now clean servers where no one has gold…or bags….a level playing field for maybe….24 hrs? For me, gameplay is secondary.

Already I put one player on ignore – first time ever in an MMO. Her constant yammering (in regional chat) caused a perpetual roll in the chat screen.  Coming from me & my mouth, you can begin to imagine the volume. Heaven forbid that this thread is ever unearthed. [Image Can Not Be Found]

Anyway, I expect a couple of months' amusement, more than most standalone games provide before I get weary of everything in it.  For me, the beauty of mmos is humans – the scene is forever changing.

Jen, if you make Telle a healer & put all her points in healing, then manage to find the setting to keep her way back out of combat (I think I turned off independent, but lord no! I don't manually put her in the back row @ every fight), she will auto-heal your party. While she stuck around, I never used heal pots. Can you guess what eventually happens?

I was so dependent upon her, my party began to crumble when she left. Thankfully, we just got her back albeit 3 lvls behind the rest of us. [Image Can Not Be Found] That is a b*tch: she's weak, under-equipped, and everything sold by vendors is too high for her to use. How in h*ll do you catch up a behind npc when everyone is fighting as a group?

I use Telle more often than not for offense. She's also got a good defensive spell that makes us all sparkly [Image Can Not Be Found] I have my guys all at level 9 or 10 now, and I've got Victor using the flamethrower, which rocks! That's when he's not casting the ice spell that cuts through enemies like buttah.

Outlier is not the weak sister anymore, Telle is. She usually holds her own against anything but the rats, but the rats all tend to swarm her and practically eat her alive.

We are about to cross the bridge and kill us some panthers and get us an airship. We hope. I just paid the $10 to the bandits, which might've not been a good thing. I am fairly well-to-do, though, and didn't feel like wasting resources to save those few coins.

I made it to Horst, sans Telle, the bitch! But I got a new guy, a dwarf, who I like better anyway. Alla my guys are at level 10 now. I'm still playing around in Horst, then it's off to finish the air initiation. My (Victor's) water spells kick the most butt.

I played for a couple of hours tonight and got all of my guys to level 12. I finished all of the side quests in Horst. We are in Fang now, fighting air mages like crazy. I am aiming to finish the air initiation, for what I don't know 'cause I like the water spells the best. I guess because it's part of the main quest.

I opted to help the drug dealers, initially by killing alla the customs agents, and got an amulet that will make the bandits fight for me. Too bad, I liked killing bandits because they were no match for my gang. The endless air mages take a bit more effort.

I bought Terry the dwarf dude a buncha bombas, and he uses them to good effect. They are expensive, though, and take a long time to recharge, so I tend to try to throw them into a whole pile of enemies for maximum carnage. Other than the bombas, he uses a rifle of some sort.

I have Victor using the flamethrower in between spells. Ammo for that goes fast, but it's cheap. Rada uses a sword and her wolf spells, and the Outlandish uses an axe mostly and his Cruel Painful Blow spell whenever it's charged.
