Behold: Kindle 3 - Wi-fi only, graphite color and a mere $139. For that price, I think I just bought one.

Congrats. You're not weak at all seeing as how you controlled your wanting till the price dropped to ridiculous.
I'm saving up my delayed gratifications for an ipoid. Whenever one is invented. If only the rumored made-in-India @ $35 were so. I could almost fly there & pick one up for what the ipod costs. Which I don't want anyway as I'm not an applite. And I want an SDHC slot.
EDIT: after reading Scout's reply, I realize my post is confusing & wrong. Line above, change ipod to ipad. It's the not-ipad I want. But android based, aka ipoid, so far nonexistent. But Scout's also correct cuz I don't have a cell phone either.

Hold out, Yapette. You'll be glad you did. Maybe not at 35.00 but I bet your dream phone will hit the market within the year.

Are you on Amazon's regular site when you buy Kindle books? For my own protection, I have never enabled one-click as default. Never used it either. My purchases require much deliberation plus back & forth paging before I make up my mind. One-click is the Devil's Touch.
Envy me: I'm off to Amazon right now to buy an Ultra Rat Zapper. Periodically plagued by rats that run from yard to yard via adjoining fence holes. Last night one ran not 6 ft. from where I stood. [Image Can Not Be Found]
With three dogs @ 10 lbs (ea), poison & snap traps aren't options. Unfortunately, when we rid our yard the rats eventually migrate back. And no! heaven forbid! there is no dog food lying about as a rat magnet. We have a pond in the courtyard/patio…when it's upper 90s, everything 2-4-6-8 legged comes here to drink.
Do I get a reward or at least recognition for moving this thread from PS3s -> Rats? [Image Can Not Be Found]

A reward? Oh, yes! And bonus points to boot. I think that's the most hijack-i-est leap I've yet seen here. Good one. [Image Can Not Be Found]
It's good to be able to celebrate, and encourage, our quirkiness without the threat of sanction.
Sorry about the rat problem though. Maybe you need 3 cats instead of/in addition to 3 dogs.

Kindle news: anyone tried The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins? I just recently finished the trilogy and need to discuss it with someone who is not my brother. Marcus is a wonderful person, but very technical when it comes to narrative construction.

I downloaded the first two in audio book form but I have misplaced the files somewhere across many computers. Haven't looked very hard cause I'm still in recovery from the end of The Passage by Justin Cronin. Another trilogy but unlike the Hunger Games, only the first book has been published. We who read & care deeply about these characters must wait till 2012 to find out what happens next. [Image Can Not Be Found] [Image Can Not Be Found]
…I'll go search for those files right now….but I won't be able to discuss for a while. [Image Can Not Be Found]

This is what Toger, myself, and any others who've read them feel about George RR Martin and the Game of Thrones series. He's got several more books to write.
Ever since I got into that, I've promise myself that I'll only read series... uh, -es... that are complete or very near complete. Marcus brought me back a prerelease "editorial" copy of The Name of the Wind by what's-his-name, which I refuse to read because apparently more books are coming. I have needs, people. Needs for stories with ends.

Welp, if you're a veeeerrrrryyyyyy slooooooow reader, the second book may be out by the time you finish The Passage at 784 pages.
I know all youse guys are reading, like with your eyes? On long rambly books with meandering storylines, [Image Can Not Be Found] audio books. a) I become very attached to a reader's voice after 25-30+ hours (only listen to those who are good) and b) I can listen when in the throes of insomnia when my eyes no longer function yet my brain won't turn off. Perfect for trans-world travel that takes days from point A to B (without sleeping a wink). Downside is it's difficult to re-listen/go back pages for a repeat. The Passage is so very very long and meandering, I've ordered a dead-tree version so I can begin again. Something I never do, ever.
...I found the files, loaded Book 1 onto my Sansa Clip & it's charging now.
