Heads Up that Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade (only) will be $49.99 from June 26-July 11 or until they run out ([Image Can Not Be Found] ?). Professional & Ultimate upgrade editions also discounted.

For the frugal among us that's a 50% savings from normal Home Premium upgrade price of $119.

Here's the full article from Ars Technica with more info, charts and explanation of the miserable process we Xpers will endure to upgrade rather than going the full version ($199.99) route. [Image Can Not Be Found]

Thanks for the heads up, Yapette. Not sure if this deal will migrate to eBay soon enough but I have an 8% off coupon (expiring June 30th) and the last I looked Buy It Nows were listed at Live Search at 8% cashback so that is another 16% off...if the asking price the same as above and there is a warrenty...and it gets listed in time, that would be a deal indeed. Since it's a clean install for XP users whether upgrade or full retail, why bother with the full retail unless you want the full OS.

I've been using Windows 7 RC1 for about a month now on all my computers and I'm very happy with it. This doesn't seem like a Vista enormity; the OS is speedy and elegant. It will take XPers a bit more getting used to than those of us who had to endure Vista for a while, but all in all once you get the hang of Win7 I think you'll like it. It's more XP than it is Vista in terms of quality.

I need to read up on what the different versions do so I can decide which to buy. Thanks for the info, Yap!

Life is the misery we endure between disappointments.

Oops, as you point out, we Xpers will have a miserable time no matter what (upgrade or full).

Unless we're not Xpers at all but Vistantalopes in which case we can upgrade on top of Vista.

Anyway, it's On Sale! I won't put a 10 yr. old OS in my next computer so installing Win7 is inevitable, even if I don't build-a-box till 2010.
