Google Image searching is research.  As a journalistic organization, we should appreciate research here.

But from sheer awesome knowledge:

#2 - Pretty sure this is one of the Syphon Filter games, though I don't know which.

#3 - Max Payne 2

#8 - Dungeon Keeper 2

#9 - Civilization 2 something or other.  One of the expansions, but I can't remember the name of it.  I'm sure I could GOOGLE IT, but we don't like FACTS here.

#3 - Max Payne 2: A Film Noir Love Story

#9 - I was going to say it's an Age of Empires II expansion, but I think Dix is right about Civ 2. The expansion, I'm pretty sure, is named "Call of [something]". It was on the cover of PC Gamer, August 1998. On the tip of my tongue...... ahhhhhhhhhhh

I am ashamed that I missed the Wasteland one, given my over-abundance of praise for that game.

2) Project IGI (you've chose this one before Steerpike!)

3) Max Payne 2

4) Darwinia

8) DKII

9) This is so familiar...

The rest: I have no idea!

Have I used IGI before? It's not surprising, really. I tend to mentally gravitate to the same places over and over again. :)

Was that Project IGI as in: "I'm Going In"? Rings a bell.

Yep, that sounds like a stupid enough name for me to forget.

I have a similar feeling that I should know what #7 is...

I've been given the ridiculously undeserved honor of working with inXile Entertainment on Torment: Tides of Numenera

Super cool!

Yes, #7 looks stereotypical enough to make me think I should recognize it even while I acknowledge I may just recognize dozens of other generic futuristic cityscapes.

Image Enlarger

This was the "cover art" edition of our header.

  1. Infidel  (I thought this one would be tougher!)
  2. Project IGI
  3. Max Payne 2
  4. Darwinia
  5. Sword of Sodan, which I played endlessly on the Genesis but which I believe was a coin-op first
  6. Tarkosky's Andrei Rublev
  7. Outpost - This was one of the most anticipated games of the summer when I worked at EB Games about 20 years ago (dear god). Colony building, survival, sort of Sim City meets MULE, etc. It was awful. Absolute buggy mess. One of the things that brought down Sierra, really.
  8. Dungeon Keeper 2, a favorite of mine and eventual subject of a My Idea of Fun
  9. Civilization: Call to Power -  better than it got credit for; made right after Sid Meier left to form Firaxis
  10. Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451

This new one is all over the map. Good luck!

Infocom's box covers (and assorted goodies) were pretty iconic for the most part.  Had that one burned in my brain for whatever reason.

#3 Wanna say The Dig but that's probably wrong

#10 Ultima 2 3? 4?

I can pretty confidently assure you #3 is not The Dig.  Too many characters in the scene.  Adventure game may be on the right track, though.

#2 is The Fall and that's the only one I know.

1 - Homeworld or GalCiv?

2 - I'll take Dix's word for it, though this image immediately makes me think of The Swapper

7 - looks like State of Decay but the camera seems too zoomed out..

Hmm, that's not a bad instinct...I'm pretty sure it's not the original Homeworld (looks a little too detailed), but I couldn't swear it wasn't Homeworld 2 or Cataclysm...although, now that you mention it, I have a different (if wild) guess:

#1: Nexus: The Jupiter Incident

I know maybe it will be called out as CHEATING again, instead of USING ALL AVAILABLE RESOURCES, but I saw Steerpike playing it on Steam a bit sometime in the recent past and though I've only dabbled I know it is that sort of 3D space RTS.

1) I'm going to go with Gal Civ.

2) The Fall, like Dix said. First glance I thought The Swapper too.

3) Hmm. HMMM. I want to say Wasteland 2 but I'm not familiar enough with it to be sure.

4) It looks too colourful to be The Stomping Land so I'm going to say Orion or Primal Carnage. I think Orion though.

7) State of Decay because of the bloody bonnet and smashed windscreen on that car. Also: camping trailer.

8) Borderlands?

That's my lot I think!

My diabolical plan to fool Dix has succeeded...or has it??
