I like it! The missile field I was looking at offered three silos and 45,000 acres above ground, but it was in Colorado... and it was three times the price, with no renovations done. I much prefer this find.

I'll start selling Google ads at Tap and soon we'll be all silo'd up!

Great find, Helmut.

One word: Broadband.

You guys living near cables are spoiled. DSL, Comcast/Cox/TimeWarner…we may complain but they *do* reach our homes.

In the woods on weekends it has been satellite only (with laggy connects making online gaming pretty much impossible) until recently.

Helmut, how do you connect up in your woods?

Otherwise, I'm in. At least over summers when our weather is horrid. Not in winter, I was raised in NY, up in the mountains it snows and gets below 50 F.

We have broadband. When it's not thunderstorm season. Or snowstorm season. Which is a good reminder that the cloud (weather) beats the cloud (infrastructure) every time.

1.76 million seems reasonable for all that we get, especially considering we will still be gaming during the apocalypse.  How many Tap'ers does this property reasonably sustain do you think?  I'd be in with my part of the closing cost, heh.

A good collection of photos for comparison shopping. Better get a move on as the zombie apocalypse is picking up some serious steam.

Wow, this typing window got small all of a sudden. Add to the list of things to look into.
The issue with the silo plan is that while many have mocked us (me) in the past, as soon as we OWN a Tap silo, suddenly the entire community will want to live there. So we either have to set up some sort of merit-based system by which people can get slots, or we'll have to invest in a very large missile complex with enough space for everyone. That alternative means there'll be more fixing up necessary.
Who here is handy? Paint? Electrical? Remodeling? I really like the missile silos that people have already fixed up, but the unfinished ones seem kind of grungy. I have no home maintenance skills but I am willing to manage and oversee. Gregg and Helmut both built houses, are you two willing to take the lead in this, in exchange for choice living quarters?

At least my plan is better than that crazy Canadian buried-schoolbus place.

Yuck, that idea reminds me of... hey all the edit gizmo's are missing. ctrl-I now brings up page info, rather than italicizing text...

Lucifer's Hammer (in italics) since it's a book about an asteroid that hits the Earth and the rest of it is all a meritocracy to get into the good camp. Say what you will about the psycopathic cannibal groups, at least they're equal opportunity enclaves. I read it when I was of an age to care and was really concerned about what I had to offer civilization.

I'm an electrical engineer. I've discovered antibiotics at least several times. My lustrous mane of hair and perfect straight teeth look fine set against my gently tanned skin. I can speak Klingon which I feel is an important cultural artifact well worth preserving and could probably quote from several important books, should it comes down to the wire.

I feel like a cow at auction.

THE FORUMS: I'm on it, I'm on it. Hopefully all will be fixed soon. Everyone - and by "everyone" I mean "certain melodramatic people who made a point to alert me that they'd 'stayed away for days'" the last time a forum glitch turned a green button chartreuse - please bear with. Seriously. No need to stay away for days. Chartreuse is after all basically green. Just send me an email if you're having problems and sleep confident in the knowledge that we'll have it repaired as soon as we can!

LUCIFER'S HELMUT: you're in. The teeth and gently tanned skin make you a genetic gold mine. We will need a Klingon dictionary though, right away. Get with the typing!
