I just bought 2 Kindle books for my iPod.  One of them was At The City's Edge.  This technology is sooo cool.  But what struck me as I was making my purchase is this:  I can't begin to imagine how surreal, but thrilling, it must be for a writer see to see his/her name come up on Amazon for the first time.  Keep the ink flowing, Marcus.

Marcus has mentioned that thrill on more than one occasion. He once sent me a photo he took of a huge box containing Polish-language copies of The Blade Itself that had arrived at his door.

Now seems like a good time to announce that Marcus's fourth novel, The Amateurs, will be available on Kindle and in book form on August 6. He claims to be working on his fifth book right now, but I gotta say I see him playing an awful lot of Left 4 Dead. That may have been an ill-advised Christmas gift on my part.

It is kinda cool the first time you see your name up on Amazon. Way cooler the first time someone leaves a review on one of your books, even a lackluster review. And even cooler yet the first time you get fan mail (or fan email).

P.S. ... and also way cool every time you write a new book, and the first advanced copies arrive, and then again when the first production proof arrives.

As the proud new owner of an iPhone 3Gs, the first app I downloaded was Kindle. I'm looking forward to having literature wherever I go!
