Innocently browsing for books on Amazon. Put a few in my cart. On I go, browsing, browsing, browsing...next thing I know, S.T.A.L.K.E.R : Shadow of Chernobyl is in my cart. I don't know how it got there, or why I'd want it, but when I saw that the price was only $7.69, well, I decided to let it stay there. [Image Can Not Be Found]

I'm just glad that 7 books made it into the cart before the game. That way I don't have to feel guilty about buying yet another game that I don't have time to play. That said, I've spent quite a few hours over the last week reading about F3 mods then downloading a bunch of them. There they sit, all cozy in their folders on my desktop, just waiting for me to work up the courage to actually install them. I'm gonna post about just that over in my F3 modding thread.
Glad you liked Stalker, Pokey. If it compares favorably to F3, with some of the same elements, I'll probably like it too. It meets 3 of my criteria: 1st person, fantastic graphics, and a game world overlaid on the real world. It isn't too often I get those 3 together.

Spike, I just finished writing a 25-page, 9,000 word article on the STALKER series for a college textbook that's coming out this winter. It was the sheer power of all those unnecessary adverbs, circuitious phraseology, and inconsistent construction that forced Shadow of Chernobyl into your cart. Enjoy it. You know you'll have lots of support here! 🙂

How cool. Will we ever get to read it – short of buying the textbook? 9000 words sounds like a bit of deconstruction and analysis. Sounds interesting except maybe for the "unnecessary adverbs, circuitious phraseology, and inconsistent construction". Edit, edit, edit. [Image Can Not Be Found]
