Well I installed the latest patch and things seem better now.  Looking forward to digging in.  It took me a while to realize I was still in the tutorial.  It's pretty long.

Now that we've got a proper, turn-based style XCOM, which does an admirable, if not perfect job of recreating that unique X-COM experience, the details that just came out about that "other" XCOM actually sound pretty interesting.  I think people, myself included, can more easily get interested in a different take on the XCOM universe if the core experience hasn't been abandoned in favor of it.

Interesting how they re-branded it as The Bureau: XCOM Declassified. Kept the XCOM in there, maybe to the surprise of some.

All these new IPs seem to start off with such bulky names!

I'm glad they put The Bureau up front because it distinguishes it straight away. XCOM doesn't really say a lot on its own. XCOM Enemy Unknown is still a bit confusing given the previous titles! Especially with the UFO: Enemy Unknown/XCOM: UFO Defense names for the European and US games, respectively.

As I said in a recent email:

"I heard 2K Marin's XCOM has been rebranded as The Bureau and turned into a third-person squad-based shooter following the outcry over a year or so ago. I thought it looked pretty damn cool myself and given my love of 2K Marin's treatment of Bioshock I was more than happy to see how they'd spin XCOM. I think its biggest problem was that it was announced before Firaxis' XCOM game..."

2K Marin have my full attention!

By the way, did anybody see the fantastic flavour trailer? (I call them flavour trailers)

Looks pretty interesting. When does it hit theaters?
