I'm pretty much ready to shelve Mass Effect at this point. It's just offering me nothing at the minute. Jarrod, I loved Red Dead Redemption. I think it's the best thing Rockstar have done since GTA Vice City. It's also got what I reckon is one of the best videogame endings I've ever seen.
Currently I'm playing the Battlefield 3 Alpha after I snagged a code from someone on another forum. The games shaping up really well. I particularly like the Battlelog feature, which not only acts as a browser based stat tracking service but also allows you to launch straight into the game from the browser. It's the first time I've ever used anything like that, and I have to say I really like it. It's so quick and easy. I don't have a friends list on there yet though so I can't comment on how convenient it is to find and game with friends (compared with Steam for example), but I do like what I've seen so far. It also keeps your interaction with Origin itself down to an absolute minimum.. which is definitely a good thing.
I've started Drakensang: River of Time, one of my purchases in the Steam sale. I am a soldier with a two- hander and picked a female archer who has healing spells and plant lore as a companion. We've scoured the first town for plants to make potions and had a few battles with some scoundrels. The first town is pretty well completed and we are heading up river. The game looks like it will be fun.
Got stuck in the Stone Tears level of From Dust. When that volcano bleeds lava all over the area where the village is supposed... to.. be.........
I think I just, this minute, figured out what I need to do!
So, I started Arcanum. It tickles me to see my half-elf girl running around killing things in a long dress. The manual is ridiculously long so I haven't figured out everything; like magick vs technology and why I can't have both.

Stone Tears is brutal! It took me several failures before I figured out the secret - move fast. Be done in minutes. "Wow, that was fast," she'll say, to which you should respond, "size doesn't matter," or "you're looking at it from a funny angle," or something of the sort.
I'm on what I think is the second-to-last mission, and I'm pretty sure you have to make a flat run for the Infinite Earth monument. It's amazing what you can do with infinite earth.
I've finally gotten Bloodlines working, so I may be sucking plasma for a while.

Infinite Earth is a godsend (heh)! Of course, the level where you first see that perk (Infinite Islands or something) I populated the villages bass-ackwards and spent an inordinate amount of time jelling and bailing water. It was hilariously sad when I realized my mistake. By then, I'd already lit up the passage and just needed a short bridge to get to it. Playing From Dust makes it glaringly obvious I can't plan ahead to save my life... or those of the Tribe. [Image Can Not Be Found]

heavily sucked into Little Big Planet… playing it whenever i can and letting household/yard chores fall to the wayside…
not a good thing considering winter is coming! i have, at least, stacked my wood on the back porch 🙂
but i'm left asking myself, "self... just when when did you become a platformer enthusiast?
it snuck up on me! and i'm lovin' every minute of it… except the part when i'm lying in bed, desperate for sleep, and the music from the game keeps looping thru my head!
I've been playing Drakensang 2 all day. Having a great time. Anyone else playing? Just finished the dwarven mine quest and killed the big bad guy at the bottom. I'm playing on easy, so it didn't take a lot of effort. It is not a clickfest, but planning out actions ahead of time and then letting the group go at it. It is a great looking game and a lot of fun. Reminds me of Nehrim and Risen, though with less fighting and easier than the first Drakensang game. [Image Can Not Be Found]
Just started DX: Human Revolution over the long weekend. Is it a bad sign when you can't figure out how to get out of a hallway.. at the start of the game!? [Image Can Not Be Found] I eventually (after viewing a Youtube video!) realized that I'd been coming at the doors head-on, instead of from the side. Who knew?

Finished Drakensang: River of Time. I liked it about as well as the first game. The last battle seemed fair, not crazy hard as some of them are. After the credits, I am able to go back to town and continue any quests not yet finished, including a battle in the temple which was a bit too hard at the time.
While I'm not actually playing it now, I am excited by the news that DC Universe online is moving to a free-to-play model... why? Because it looks ok and I can play it on my PS3. The humble PS3 has far too few MMO's to choose from.
And here I was, intent on not getting into any new games until Skyrim arrives... what a fool I am. Incidentally, I pre-ordered Skyrim from Game here in Aus, who are throwing in the first two Elder Scrolls novels into the deal. I haven't pre-ordered a game since about 2003-ish, and feel like someone on their first date again [Image Can Not Be Found]

I'm hoping for the best, xtal, but your fear is valid indeed. My main concern is that it'll turn out more like Borderlands than like, you know, a game. Fortunately Dark Souls comes out the same day, so if Rage sucks I'll just... weep for my lost $60 and move on, I guess.
