I played through the 3 Casebook episodes plus the demo.  Overall I'd give the experience a slightly above average experience.  The gameplay did get tedious since 90% of the time you're just trying to use the camera to take shots of everything and then analyze it in the police van.  Still, there was something about it that kept me playing through each episode.

Next I'm planning on finishing up the remaining episodes of Wallace & Gromit and then probably play through Slip Space.  I just took advantage of the game sale going on at the adventuregamers store and purchased 'The Whispered World', 'Yoormajuk's Ring', and 'Runaway: Twist of Fate' for 50% off so will aim to play those down the road.

Yoomurjak was fantastic.  If you like FMV, and if you like real-world locations, you will love Yoomurjak.  The music is pretty damned good too, especially the theme that you get a big dose of during the end credits.  Loved the music so much I hunted it down on the web, then found another song by same guy that I also love.  Now both reside on my iPod – in Hungarian, but who cares?

I played Casebook 0 - the freebie, last year and liked it.  I have Episode 1 but haven't played it - no fault of the game; I got distracted by something shinier.  I think I'll eventually go after Ep. 2 and 3.  The dev's website is offering all 3 eps. for $15.95.

I'm another that loved Yoomurjak! I want to go to Hungary and tour the countryside.

I played Casebook 0 and was not entertained enough to buy the others.

Is anyone interested in Transformers: War for Cybertron?  I'm already seeing Game advertise it for $69AUD (around $60US), which seems like a steal.

No TF fans left out there, or has everyone been scathingly burnt by past dodgey games and schlock movies?

They're trying to ham up the fact that it's a return to G1-ness... although that's not really true as any hard-core nerd/fan will be able to tell you.

Ok, well despite the overwhelming silence on TF: War for Cybertron, I picked it up yesterday after work for a tidy $59 AUD (around $49 US).  I snuck in about 90 minutes of play last night, which ate into my Fallout 3 time more than I'd wanted.  But still, it's a bit of a fun run-and-gunner, with plenty of nods to the G1 cannon (the opening chapter of the Decepticon story starts off with Megatron aboard the Nemesis, and Jetfire (Skyfire) and Starscream are introduced as scientist colleagues - as originally mentioned in the 80's cartoon's backstory of Jetfire.

That said, there are several things they could have done better.  A customisable character for the story mode would have been awesome, for starters.  A splitscreen multiplay option with bots (pardon the pun) would have added a lot of longevity to it as well.

One of the reported failings of the game was that the customisable character options in the online multiplayer mode are very limited.  While I didn't play any multiplayer last night, I did check out some of the character options there, and there was certainly more choice than I was expecting.  Yes, there are only four classes.  But each class has several chassis to choose from (which I wasn't expecting), some of which need to be unlocked via the story mode.

The controls are very intuitive - my only gripe here is that the avatar appears on the lower left of screen, which makes running in a straight line confusing (I'd prefer the avatar in the middle of the screen).  Controls are fluid, especially when car mode.  I did play a little as a seeker, and it's actions were pretty smooth too, but I need a little practice.

My two favourite Transformers stem from my love of G1 and the toys, and were the two first figures I received as a young 'un: Sideswipe and Thundercracker.  At the start of the second chapter in the Decepticon story, you can elect to play as Thundercracker, so I'm already in a particular form of heaven.  It remains to be seen whether I'll get to play as the roguish Sideswipe in the Autobot campaign.

Also, I should mention that some of the vistas, when you're outside and can see vistas, are just spectacular - moreso than I would have expected from a basically metallic world.

Also if you never played it for PC or Xbox 360, Dead Space is a great game, particularly for people who generally don't care for Resident Evil-ish survival/horror 3PS games.

That's a quote from page 7 or 8 of this thread. Now that I've made my way through the last 8 chapters my view is...well, not as pretty. I don't think Dead Space is a great game anymore. It is merely a heavily flawed, often enjoyable game. A decent overall experience. I think it deserves a review, and since one hasn't arisen from these parts I will take up the task.

I'm going to play it a second time to be fair, since my initial play-through was spread over nearly two years. Now that I know what to do, and what not to fear, I can go in headstrong and finish the job in probably 6 hours. Look for it in mid-July, fellow Tappers!

As the solitary TF: War for Cybertron fan here, I'm left to shout to myself in joy that they're releasing their first DLC on the 27th, which includes five new robot chassis (or should that be "chassii"?), and four maps (2 for Escalation mode, which I haven't played yet, and 2 for vanilla multiplayer).  All for US$9.95 (which I'm expecting will be around $15 AUD...  at least that's what I hope).

Ooh, and PSN is offering Mortal Kombat II for $4.99 AUD at the moment, which is what - a cheeseburger's worth, for all of you oversees?  Very hard to ignore at that price.

Thanks xtal!  Otherwise I'd feel lonely here in my Hot Rod doona and Autbot symbol underpants.

I've been playing Neverwinter Nights 2. I'd forgotten that it required a 'net connection. [Image Can Not Be Found]  There are some slow-downs while it loads the areas or when it's saving, otherwise it's not too bad.

The voice work is atrocious and the graphics are [s]a tad[/s] ugly (especially the people/critters). I'm constantly fighting the camera as I try to find the best way to view it. My companions get stuck on scenery and don't always make it into battle. The game refuses to let me "rest" when there are enemies on the other side of a wall... even with the door closed. I'm still trying to figure out how the interface works - especially using skills and/or spells. (RTFM [Image Can Not Be Found])

Even with all the above, I like the game... or is it the world? Going back to play this after having played Dragon Age, I can see the beginnings of DA's origins (see what I did there?); especially with the tactics and your companions approval/disapproval. I'm supposed to be able to chat them up, but it doesn't appear to work in the same fashion as DA:O.

I've considered restarting a couple of times, but I've spent enough time - roughly 3-4 hours - that I really don't want to re-do all that I've already done... and my girl, Karma Sabich, has started to come into her own.

Oooo-ooo-oooo, can I play too? Maybe? If the install & setup doesn't overwhelm & I can do it on my win7 hard drive?

My unwritten gaming rule: after playing a game I thoroughly enjoy with good graphics, I must follow up with a title that's less likely to hit those marks. Or has been shelf-sitting for 3+ years.

Currently under consideration:

Mass Effect (great graphics & story, controls/combat likely game-killers, especially Mako driving)

Fallout 3 (return to; but fails to pass the next test as it has both good graphics & fun play)

Assassin's Creed (great location for touristing, but jumping and combat?)

Other games on the shelf don't quality as they have too many positives. Plenty of adventure games I own pass with flying colors. But they are so g-damned boring that I don't even count them as "currently playing." They tend to pend between saves forever.

NW2 – now that's a true contender. Couldn't get further than 3 min. down the elevator in Hordes of the Underdark. Managed to finish NW via parallel play with toger & Jen. It's all a memory-mush now, did we finish the other expansion, Shadows of the Undrentide?  Maybe what I need is to play NW2 with toger. [Image Can Not Be Found]

Yap, please, please, please come and play NWN2 with me! The journey's always better when there's someone else scrambling the names, places and situations.

I remember finishing Shadows. I think I finished about a month or two after you and Jen. I never did play any of the mods, but I still have it installed as a "some day."

If you decide to play along, I'll drop a post in Bollocks so we can regale the others with our stories. [Image Can Not Be Found]

Installed & patched but paralyzed by race/class decisions (even before I load the game [Image Can Not Be Found]). Besides which I am not a fan of D&D rules. The amount of fiddly stat combos in armor & weapons makes me weep.

I may, just this time, in the interests of mental health, go with a brutish warrior. [Image Can Not Be Found] [Image Can Not Be Found] [Image Can Not Be Found] [Image Can Not Be Found] [Image Can Not Be Found]  And take game suggested feats/skills if offered. [Image Can Not Be Found] Maybe this way I'll be able to (strike this out ---> finish) begin.

I feel you on the fiddly bits of D&D. Makes my head hurt. If it makes you feel any better, I agonized over race/class for a couple of days before even installing/patching the game. To Bollocks we go!

I'm created: human (could not go with looking at a half-orc) fighter. Default stats. Except I'm tall. -Er than even Dad when I quit in the first scene before even opening the chest. It's late & it took everything I got to create just me.

I finally broke down and bought World in Conflict and Soviet Assault for $20. It was down on the bargain shelf just lurking, sadly out of sight so others wouldn't buy it. I didn't dare touch it to move it out in the open or I would have had it earlier. I like RTS games early on when they're not too hard, and I must say watching Seattle get invaded was really cool. I devastated whole square blocks with my wanton artillery (the points just kept regenerating and I was practising my timing and execution. If I ever get the chance am called upon to use tactical nukes in an urban setting, I will not hesitate to do my duty.

Oh, you will Helmut. You will.

That said, don't underestimate the glory of the Daisy Cutter anti-infantry detonation, or the ever-glorious Carpet Bombing. These too will improve your timing and execution. : )

Bannon's pretty funny. It's very similar in some sense to Company of Heroes, which I enjoyed, but for some reason only got about 1/2 way through. Repair is essential to keep moving. Putting anti tank squads up in buildings is overly powerful but requires more micromanagement to keep them in position when on the moeve and  and the air support when you have it is both fun but a whole lot to keep track of. It's a little hectic... I'm averaging 2 failed secondary goals per mission because I'm not hearing them over the other chatter.  Some of the objectives in the last mission were pretty dumb, take the south tv station, take the north supermarket, lose the supermarket, retake the south entrance to block the tanks, fail and regroup in the middle of town. Still, it's a bit more fun than CoH in that the chaos is more so. Modern warfare is more interesting than WWII.

Resource mining ala Starcraft would feel pretty quaint in comparison.

Remind me never to try invading a foreign continent. It would be very difficult.

Ok, I need help desperately. Mission six, the one with clearing the vineyards and holding the town in France... The first flashback mission to before the US was invaded.. There are five control points to hold, my tanks are spread too thin and I can't get any more reinforcements and I'm overrun easily from all directions. I don't quite understand what options I have here for success but then I guess that's why I'm not a General.
