Just wondering if anyone has played this yet? I thought there might be some chatter around here about Ron Gilbert's latest since FFC was an adventure haven back in those adventure-y days!
It looks sort of like a platforming-adventure game with the engine of Trine, and that sounds quite good to me, though I haven't yet committed any playing time to it. Just looking for anyone's thoughts.

Because xtal reminded me, I picked this up yesterday afternoon.
I'm getting a Tales from the Crypt vibe (The narrator acts as Crypt-keeper) in that each of the three you're running has their story told in vignettes. Slightly dark, Double Fine brand snarky humor vignettes. I've played through the Adventurer's story and you definitely use all three of your characters to get through the "dungeon". The puzzle aspect hasn't been difficult with any objects you need close by. While in a mine, I had each of my characters carry a specific item as I found it so I wouldn't have to double back. Once you leave a specific "dungeon", anything you're carrying will automagically fall by the wayside, so inventory management is very simple.
I've no clue how long it took me to get through the first story, so don't ask.
So far, I like it.

I played the demo on Xbox live and enjoyed that too. Even if it's a short or not too challenging game I don't think I'd care. Lighthearted adventures are too few for me to have any major complaints, especially this one which will probably carry some good humour throughout.
It ran a bit choppy on the console though, much like Walking Dead did on PS3, so I think I'll consider it on Steam. One thing Steam could benefit from is more demos, and sooner; this is where Xbox succeeds: every game on XBLA has to have a trial version. I might not go in blind on The Cave but I saw enough to like in the demo.

Yeah, I did notice a couple of places where it slowed down just a tad and there wasn't a whole lot happening on screen at the time, either. When I played the demo, there weren't any slow downs at all.
After playing the Monk's story, I did find an annoyance: there's no way to target an object if there's more than one interactive hotspot nearby. Standing near a sign, feather and triggered cave painting and getting a character to pick up the feather took more than a few tries as every time I hit X, the AI assumed I wanted to view the cave painting.

I am now playing the full version on PS3 since it recently became free to PS+ members. Yay!
I picked the twins, time traveler and scientist. Completed the twins unique section yesterday, it was quite good, and silly of course. Reminded me of classic Ron Gilbert stuff. The time traveler's section is, so far, a bit more confusing.
So yeah, if you have PS+ go grab this.
Unrelated to The Cave, Demon's Souls is the latest free game offered to PS+ folk this week! Not even subscribed to the service for a year and it's already done far more for me than Xbox Live ever did. Same price, maybe you could argue XBL is a higher quality service, I don't know, but the admission price of PS+ has been paid back in the piles of free games I've received: Infamous 1 and 2, LittleBigPlanet 1 and 2, Wipeout 2048, Gravity Rush, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, NBA Jam, Anomaly Warzone Earth, Mega Man 9 and 10, Dungeon Defenders, Quantum Conundrum, Closure, Borderlands, Spec Ops: The Line, Darksiders, Vanquish, early access to DUST 514, The Cave and now Demon's Souls. That's crazy! $59 for all that, and oodles more to come. A worthwhile service. With XBL's same admission cost I was simply allowed to play Dead Space 3 and Madden online. Joy.

Warning: not all of those games are still free. I don't want you to sue me!
I'm checking the Playstation blog because I can't remember all of this, but here is some info to know. (Also, it's $49 a year, maybe I forgot or did indeed pay $59 for being a Canuck)
Leaving PS Plus In April
- April 2nd – Spec Ops: the Line
- April 9th – Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition
- April 16th – Anomaly: Warzone Earth
- April 23rd – Mega Man Maverick Hunter X

Entering PS Plus in April (in no particular order)
- Demon’s Souls (PS3)
- Malicious (PS3)
- Labyrinth Legends (PS3)

And from what I can tell (and a bit from memory) here is what is still free, or part of the instant game collection, as they say:
Gravity Rush (Vita)
Wipeout 2048 (Vita)
Uncharted Golden Abyss (Vita)
Tekken 5 (Vita)
Joe Danger 2: The Movie
Vanquish
Infamous 2
LittleBigPlanet 2
Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One
Anomaly Warzone Earth
Darksiders
Megaman 9 and 10
Closure
Super Street Fighter IV
Disgaea 3 (Vita)
The Cave
and of course now Demon's Souls
I determined this based on the flipping images here: http://us.playstation.com/psn/.....tion-plus/
Honestly, it hasn't even been all the free games or discounted stuff, a large part has been the ability to use the cloud save feature; downright essential if you ever want to play Bethesda games (which I am doing) and just a nice feature that adds peace of mind. Sure, I think this should be available to everyone, but it's not, so for now it's a PS+ perk. Even just knowing that if my console dies I won't lose my Demon's Souls or Dark Souls saves has been huge.
Another nice feature is that your system will automatically download and install game patches overnight (or whenever you set it to) which can save a lot of time.
I'm quite curious if these things will be vanilla with PS4 or if you'll still need to be a plus member to benefit from what are rather basic features.
Either way, this has been one of the major perks that has swayed me toward Playstation and away from Xbox slowly over the last couple years. If I had to drop one online service, it would definitely be Xbox Live, and if I live without one of the next-gen consoles for 2-4 years it will most certainly be the new Xbox.

I've picked up several of those titles myself, The Cave included. But I haven't fired it up yet.
I would like to whole-heartedly echo Xtal's sentiments about PS+. It actually offers me things I value, as opposed to Xbox Live which offers me nothing I want (and as such I haven't had it for a long time). I'm completely soured on Xbox frankly. And it's a shame because I really like some of its exclusives (Gears of War!). It won't even read my copy of Alan Wake
I'll likely skip this next console generation, but if I were to indulge again, PS4 is the only one which looks remotely interesting to me.
Rule #2: Double-tap
Went to play The Cave today after a long break; the intro replayed and my save file, quite far into the game, was apparently gone. Googled it, went to Double Fine's forums and apparently the 1.01 patch erased any save file you had. That was probably at least 7-8 weeks ago; no response from Double Fine. Well, they've gone down a notch in my books.
