Welcome to the multiplayer er, 'sticky', for Tap-Repeatedly where we will (hopefully) be arranging various multiplayer games on various platforms across various timezones with varying degrees of success. If you're interested in a big old friendly gang bang then leave your usernames/IDs below and get suggesting some games. Mods are always a possibility as well - I've heard good things about the Dystopia mod for the Source Engine for instance. Valve's veritable treasure trove of multiplayer games may be a great place to start for this (hint: Alien Swarm – it's free!!) so get involved! I know we've got people scattered across the globe so leaving a timezone might be handy as well 😉

My usernames:

Steam: geggiis

PSN: geggis

Add me or I'll cry.

I'm GMT +1.

I've never played Serious Sam but I've only ever heard good things about the co-op multiplayer. I don't own it personally but if there are enough interested I'd be willing to get it.

Alien Swarm is a lot of fun if you're with the right group.

The last (and first time) I played it we had three of us and by accident I'd left the game on open public meaning that later on we had another player drop in called 'Drew'. Anyway he became the medic luckily so he was invaluable and at one point just after welding shut a load of doors, ready to move on, Drew just stopped. He wouldn't move or respond to us. We kept shouting him and messaging him but he just stood there motionless, all the while aliens pounding on our freshly sealed doors. We waited and waited and the sounds of the aliens grew louder and denser and we knew that if we waited any longer that we might not make it out of that room trying to protect our AWOL medic. So we started moving and suddenly the doors burst open, aliens pouring in. But as we moved to the exit, out of the gunfire Drew emerged following (and healing) us.

It was all very cinematic to say it was merely his supper burning in the oven that caused him to dash.

Gregg, I swear you've read my mind. I was seriously just coming onto the forums to create this exact topic. Now I don't have to. You're actually the only Tapper I've added to my PSN, so everyone else let's get cracking! I'm GMT-5

Me and xtal we're popping some aliens' asses earlier on Alien Swarm but then we both died horribly in some godforsaken air vents. We were all like "oh my gaaad!" and the aliens were all like "blreraaefhg!!". It was intense.

I can't find you on Steam Helmut.

God I suck at 2.0. I do have an xbox live account.

Sadly I'm GMT-8. Way out on the butt end of the world. The only hope for any kind of hookup is... early morning Europe?

Sir, you are a rare species. Keep keeping it real. 1.0 For the win.

Side note: Alien Swarm co-op it a lot of fun. Especially when you get to play with a group of wank-chip-eating Brits.

It was a lot of fun and it was bizarre to be talking with you xtal after knowing you for quite a while on here. As an English person I've sort of got this idea that we should all sound quite well spoken but the truth is hardly any of us do. Most British people have a very strong regional dialect which I suspect doesn't sit too well with the stereotypical English accent! Luke is from Oxford and has a slightly west country dialect whereas my girlfriend (his sister) is quite well spoken. I sound like a gormless Sean Bean and George (Zutty) while being from the Midlands like me doesn't have such a broad dialect. It was nice to be playing with a bunch of people with mics though and people you could trust to have fun with. I know it's never quite the same playing with randoms.

It would probably be best playing at about 18:00-21:00 for us in Europe Helmut. That way it would be about late morning to midday for you so perhaps weekends would be the best time to arrange something? After arranging a gathering for a Solium Infernum game recently across 5 timezones (US, UK, Germany, China and Australia) I found this site quite useful for planning.

Hehehehehe, the above describes me too Helmut.  You are not the only one!

My steam alias is clrodrick.  Up to now I haven't partaken of any multi-player madness.  Maybe I should start.  The Alien Swarm game looked fairly cool from the little I saw/read on it.  I also have Left4Dead 1 & 2.  In fact, I haven't even tried part 2 yet.  I played part 1 a little and then got distracted with other things.  I heard those games were a good co-op time.  I live in Los Angeles so GMT-8

I've got PSN (WinterGod), although I don't have a lot of games for it yet.  Also, I haven't got a keyboard hooked up (Gregg, I see you on every now and again - I've been meaning to shout out a 'hi', but the lack of keyboard has been preventing me so far).  I've got some USB headphones/mic lying around - I don't know if you need special ones for the PSN, but maybe I should hook them up and see if they work.

I've seen you many a time Jarrod on PSN and at one point thought you had Battlefield: Bad Company 2 because it listed you in the squad lobby, so obviously I sent you a squad invite! I later realised that it puts any of your friends who are online in that list even if you don't have B:BC2!! Oops!

If you do intend on multiplaying and voice chatting more on the PSN I highly recommend Sony's official bluetooth headset/earpiece. It's got some sort of noice cancelling technology that negates the audio coming from your speakers meaning that voice chat in game is generally brilliant. Of course, if you don't do an awful lot of chatting then it's perhaps not worth it! 😉

Does anybody have Battlefield: Bad Company 2 on the PS3 here?

Also, me, Lewis and my girlfriend's brother Luke may very well be online tonight and/or tomorrow evening for a game of Alien Swarm if anybody fancies joining us. It'll be about 19:00 onwards London time and should be a proper laugh for all involved!

I'll do my best! By the time those of us west of the Atlantic come home from work you're probably just about off to have cookies and warm milk in your PJs. You know, because... that's er... what I do.

p.s. The only multi-player game I have for my PS3 right now is Bioshock 2, and it's probably wank chips.

Steam: Pineapplesquid. Got a couple accounts, and that one has mostly casuals, but it's my main because Mount & Blade Warbands is on it.

Wow, this place sure went Jetsons while I was away. <waves to goofballs old and new>

Warbands is broken in all the ways the original M&B was but it's oh so lovely in all the ways the original M&B was. Horses ain't cars, who knew? and now I can get lanced by real people. God bless those crazy Turks.

Currently playing APB with a friend. The game is make-grandma-cry broken but hilarious. "Where'd he go?" "Gave up, hold this spot for two minutes and we win." "Ambulance!" "What?" "He..." Deaders. Cop got in an emergency vehicle and did some high speed vehicular justice. Then he did victory donuts while we respawned. Being pwned by a cop in a hotdogging ambulance, good stuff. Timing two armored vans into same and bugging him into a wall as he tried to leap out, also good.

Hey Finkbug, how's it hanging?

Yes, this site has changed quite a bit the past year or so, but you will notice many of the same crazies that occupied the legacy FFC site/forums.

I'm alive. Anything additional is bonus round.

Great to see you all. FFC really was my home. A safe space to jab smarter people with sticks. Not the best way to sort my ideas, but only tool I've got.

How's LakerzWorld been going? Nice ride!

If anyone wants to join me in APB Sunday, pile on. The games the Keystone Cop + GTA emergent hilarity tickles my inner eight year old. Warning: my buddy is thornier than a Finkbush. The thin skinned best stay away.

Finkbug, er dude, you are one crazed Zuma's Revenge nutter. 233 hours?! (If you haven't gathered I've just added you to my Steam friends list. You're one of the lucky ones).

Edit: Just seen your Mount & Blade time! Whoa! What's King's Bounty like? I bought Space Rangers 2 about a month ago and haven't had chance to play it but I believe they're by the same developers. Always thought the graphics looked lovely on KB.

xtal: good game last night. Very long. I couldn't keep up with Luke dashing ahead all the time, he was like some sort of Pied Piper Rambo or something. I think if you try and keep in some sort of line as you move forward it makes it easier for everybody to be able to shoot cleanly, more often than not I was hitting Luke because he was wading in there and moving all over the place, I'll have to have words with him ;-). Look at Vino, his last blast hit Luke! Also, because me and him have been playing Alien Breed which enforces a boundary on the edge of the screen, he wasn't able to dash ahead without me so obviously last night was hard work, not least because we had it on hard and my frame rate was making things a bit indecipherable at times.

I'd like to have a crack at L4D2 but it'll probably run like ass… hmm, that sounds horrible but then again my framerate probably will be. I'll check it out.

Great games, they were. Vino and I reconvened for Part 2 yesterday afternoon. We played on hard again with a friend of his making us three. He was the "Luke" of our team, so to speak: charging forward, no regard for anything else. Though he died a lot more than Luke. To make a long story short: we completed the first 6 missions of the campaign on hard, had a few cracks at the final, failed them all mostly because this guy was Rambo Incarnate, then he says "well, got to go, so long." And that was it…. the final mission is impossible with two players. A total joke, because you need one tech, who is awful at killing things, and you should have a medic to fight infestations, who also happens to be lousy, bollocky wank chips at shooting things, so it's all for naught, really.

We toned it down to normal difficulty and were able to win just the two of us. I, medic extraordinaire, was the lone survivor to escape.

Alien Swarm has turned out to be one of the best co-operative ventures I can remember in a long, long time. I daresay it approaches the level of fun to be had at tackling the entire Diablo II campaign with some friends.

I love co-op games, especially when there's a campaign to work through. For a long time my connection was pants so multiplayer was pretty much off limits, but now... now it's all good.

What are your thoughts on L4D2 xtal? Me and a friend - Zutty who we initially played Alien Swarm with - really enjoyed playing the original L4D campaigns against the computer on the hardest difficulty because we found that versus mode just got a little out of hand with some of the hardcore players totally rushing levels and ruining the 'flow'. Facing the computer makes the experience feel more personal and I dunno, alien.

Back to Alien Swarm though, that minigun I saw you using looked frickin' sweet. I wants me some of that next time we play. I'm determined to crack that last level on hard with you folks so keep me posted when you're available to play Part 3. Once that's done, it's on to insane... L4D2: for the $20 I put down on it, quite satisfied, even if I've only put something like 4-6 hours on it. It's basically L4D1 but a bit improved. Melee guitar killing doesn't need to be talked about at all. The characters are as silly and colourful as the first batch, and the action is probably even crazier. I've had a few co-op sessions with friends and it's excellent, similar to Alien Swarm in that they're my favourite co-operative games to be had this year. Good year for co-operation, it seems. And I've only just begun Guardian of Light, so it may even improve.
