Did anyone see this trailer? I guess it "premiered" this weekend at the VGAs or VGX..whichever it's called. The thing that Dark Souls 2 was announced at last year!
I love this trailer ... it looks to be a first person exploration game but on a massive scale. That's about what all the talk is saying too. It could just be one of those trailers where every cool thing is rammed inside of it ... or this could be an awesome science fiction-y thing that no one knew they wanted.

I've been following some of the coverage on Rock Paper Shotgun. Seems dangerously ambitious - Sporelike comes to mind - but if it delivers it could be fascinating. Procedural content can lead to amazing stuff and less amazing stuff, and nobody's found the perfect balance. That they're trying something this... out there... that's bold.
But I'll take one!

Yeah, Spore is the first thing I thought of, too.
I'm historically sort of bored by games as open as this one looks to be, but damn if it isn't impressive to think about.

Yeah I was really impressed when I saw this over the weekend. Love the stylised visuals and the 'high sci-fi' feel of it-- did anyone catch the video interview with one of the devs linked on RPS? It's quite interesting but the guy's positively fizzing with enthusiasm. What's more impressive is that these are the devs that brought us Joe Danger. That was their first game. What a leap!
Anyway, if you didn't notice the superb music in that trailer then don't worry, I didn't either until someone else pointed it out to me and linked to the song on Youtube. The track's by a band called 65daysofstatic and (rather shockingly) they're a post-rock/math rock band from Sheffield, a city that's 20 minutes away from me and where Mat C and my brother live. Cripes.
