I can't see the thief in the water....it's too dark. [Image Can Not Be Found] [Image Can Not Be Found] [Image Can Not Be Found] [Image Can Not Be Found] I've jumped three times, turned 'round & 'round but everywhere is blackness. Then the quest fails. Yes, Scout, with a pop-up menu in German that forces me to reload. It must be gamma time!

Anyone soul trapped yet? I'm going to pretend it's not in the game after lugging around empty soul stones & soul trapping weapons/spells. I'll use my potion making gold to pay mages to recharge.

Supposedly, the game includes spells for Mark & Recall. That would be handy for dungeon clearing.

Scout, I missed your directions about a generic chest on a cliff to continue the exploding chest quest. Going to do that next. And the vault. After I walk around Erothin in daylight. AFTER I successfully follow that. damned. thief. Too bad, it's tough to hate someone who looks so much like me (except my hybrid genetics gifted me eyes of humanistic color).

It wasn't dark when I chased the thief. Can't you reload before you use the spell on the guard and then go directly to his house?

I never found the chest, but did find the sewer entrance.

Pokey....I'm confused. I waited (T) at graveyard till dusk, no guard. Waited more (T) until almost 9 pm, guard was coming up graveyard steps.

Guard only prays at night so that is when I cast the spell.

First time I took so long to find his house, he was already in front of his door, then entered. Reload.

Second time, pitch dark in the city with only a few torches lit, made it to house before guard. Chased thief, can just make out in dark where he's going. Can't see him jump, hear splash, jump to right & fail. Reload.

Third time, pitch dark, know generally where he's going, can't see him up on tower, hear splash before I get there, jump left this time, can't see anything. Fail, reload.

Fouth time, don't chase him but look around house in case that's what I'm supposed to do. Fail, reload.

Fifth time, stand at base of tower, hoping he'll jump & I can follow him that way. No go, he doesn't run unless I'm following him, run around to ramp, can't see him in dark, run anyway. Hear splash, fail, reload.

Sixth time, chase him as usual, he jumps, I do too, can't see a thing moving anywhere.

Can anyone tell this has become major no fun?

That's strange. I just reloaded my save as I entered the area. It is 5:45 PM and as I am standing there, he walks to the grave. It is still very light out. When the thief climbs out of the water, I think he goes down the road in front of you. I could retrace the route and see if that helps. He ends up at the backyard. Maybe you could trace the route back from there.

It was rough country, but I made it to the Nautilus dockyards. There are huge steel guards. I took advantage of the landscape to bring down the three outside. Now to go in.

Yapette, could you wait till morning once you lift the key and go into the guard's house then? I found him at the graveyard around 5 pm or so and had lots of light to give chase. Where are you when the thief jumps from the tower in the water? He doesn't swim anywhere but goes up the steps back into the street near where he jumps into the water. If you get to the top of the steps first just wait and he will come out and run right past you. Chase and he will wait for you to follow. Like Pokey says, he ends up in the backyard near the entrance to a sewer by the fence's shop. You should see where he goes down into the sewer.

Yapette. I replayed it. Here is how it went for me:

Exiting water, go up path to the left.

Follow the water on the right.

Stairs on the right.

Turn L and go through door at gate.

Down a grassy incline.

Backyard gate ahead on the right.

Hope you find a way to do it in the light. Do you have a light spell? Don't know if that would help.

Thanks, Pokey for your efforts. I do have a gown enchanted with light but was afraid to take time out to swap….anything, even boots +2 speed.

Thanks guys for your support. I reloaded way back in daylight, waited till early duskish* 6 o'clockish & he showed up. Much, much easier in dusklight. Like, reasonable & possible.

Got the quest for the key from Mute Lady. However, I really must get back to the Sanctum & report rescuing the missing daughter before Head Mage Vicuna departs.

Hey, just noticed a spoiler tagged blindfolded face in the bar above. How long has that been there?

What I want back is the strike out!

* I've always had trouble with dusk & dawn in TES games. Too imprecise. In TX, dusk can be anywhere between 5 & 9:30 pm depending upon time of year.

Spoiler tag has been there for a while - since our adventures in Dragon Age, I think - but back then it had this nasty habit of messing up subsequent posts using the tag. Maybe it's fixed? This software does odd/strange things when no one is looking.

I want strike out back, too. Much more so than spoiler tags.

Finished the archeology quest for the old guy in Erothin. Used some rock climbing against the tough guards and found the info I needed quickly. I was about to teleport back, but spied an inlet heading the right way and and the trip back was much easier. There are big dams going up the west side of the water. There was a sunken ship and a mine on the way back. At level 14 now and have magic III. The level III fireball sure uses up mana fast.

It was snowing up there by the North Wall. Pretty.

Yapette, the fireball mine quest has yet another area nearby too that I stumbled upon. At the trailer at that little jousting stadium outside Erothin.  It sends you up NE to a spot I haven't gone too yet.

I dropped off the green glowing axe of insanity and questionable benefit back in the mine, picked up the boots and split. I need to find a mage to repair my armor as I enchanted it all, forgetting that I can't repair it yet. Crap.

I am running low on quests. I have like 3 or 4 decent ones. I need to start exploring some new areas, I guess. I need to look into the old guy arkie quest.

I think I want to get a water walking spell. I think it would be much easier to travel via the rivers  than winding around all the paths. I am still running around on foot. I guess I need to test out a horse and see if there is any advantage to it.

Also, I wish we had a spell check that actually worked. All I ever get is an error message when I try to use it. Since I hardly ever contribute content anymore I hesistate to whine too much about it.

About mounts. Why is it when running (walking) we hold down W & steer with a mouse. But when steering a mount, we must do W to move forward plus fine tune with A and S in order to stay on the road. At least I do.

Am I doing this riding thing ass-backwards?

I'm off to test drive a horse & prove (to myself) that riding is an unwieldy process not worth the effort I expend.

I don't think mounts have much to offer. I have no trouble riding them, but they don't seem any faster and they don't even have an inventory so they can help carry loot.

I gave the info to Gervasius. Now he has two more quests, but they will have to wait till around level 30. Maybe I'll go find Kim and do that quest. The first quest was fun and nice to see new territory.

Whaaaaaaa.....exploring Erothin in daylight & did not save. [Image Can Not Be Found] Crashed entering the theater.

Loved the courtroom. Places like these are what make the game so special and better than Oblivion.

Last save was Mr. Fence, before I made boatload of potions & stocked up on Mithril armor just in case I find decent enchants.

Got the key, hope(fully) included in this save.

I WANT that house. My second 10k will buy it.

I'm doing the predatory bird quest but I can't find a way to get up the hill to where the bird is. All ways seem to be blocked except one and I am not able to go up the path.

I finished the Fiery Welcome quest which started with the chest in the road blowing up in your face. Very nicely put together quest. It told you what you needed do before the boss fight and after dying twice getting to the last room I took Alcazar the boss out the first time. Great peice of armor and two others to sell for the loot.

I went north from there toward the Salathin Coast in the northeast. I have a key now from the Fiery Welcome quest to something called the Zerobion Tower. I peeked inisde and ran.

Tough area. Bandits with one hit kill weapons, rabid foxes even harder than the Northern Wolf. I found the best weapon yet at the nearby Pirate Cave on a beach and am holing up in Freyer's Farmhouse, a couple of friendly farmers, till dawn.

I haven't had this much fun since getting lost in Morrowind Ashlands way too early in the game and running down the river being pecked by cliff racers all the way back. It's scary up here. I have life and death battles with magic crabs at level 16.

The armor in this game sucks so far and my biggest obstacle is the damage I'm taking right and left. Potions work well but I'm running out of them.

I did. I went around to the side and I hit either a "you can't go here" or I couldn't manage to find a place I could get up. I tried both right and left.

Edit…I finally made it. I had trouble getting up the second log by the yellow flowers.

Finished the quest. Took a while to make the jump and then to find Helene.

It took me a few tries to find the way too. And even more once I got up there.

I found the archeologist and took the quest. Made a bunch more potions and sold off half and kept the other half for my quests up north. I have 3 big quests and they are up in that area.

I've changed my mind about maxxing fireball first. Now I'm thinking light armor first. My fireball is pretty deadly, esp. when I chug a Restore Magicka and fire away. I'm still taking huge amounts of damage though. I guess I need to look more seriously at a good shield spell too.

Or a shock/frost…something that stuns & stops even if only temporarily.

Upping light armor….or restoration (for heal)….or blade/destruction to kill faster. Or whatever school that self-protects. Our LPs are too limited to become strong enough in all.

Before I train any more, that's what I'm pondering. Better to not be a spell, something that doesn't using magicka. But game won't allow swapping weapons mid-swing (or in combat, so it says, I've tried. Stop hitting & it's possible). One hit w/ shock staff (or frost arrow…tool tips even mention this)—> resume whacking melee.

Other option is potions. As this is the far fiddlier choice, I'm still pondering. [Image Can Not Be Found] Not certain I have the motivation to apply pots every minute or so to self and/or weapon.

Question: did you put your bath-house letter *in* the "account" box inside the 2222 safety deposit area? I did & crashed, big time. But that could be due to clicking 100 times trying to make the door close to 2222. Didn't want my stuff stolen. Not that thieves would notice my puny deposits with all the stacks of coins & bags of (I presume) gold on every surface tempting us to grab.

The magika goes so fast with the fireball III. You need to have a lot of magika potions and keep hitting the key. Two fireballs and the bar is empty. I wonder if fireball II might be more economical. I am using the fireball much more than the sword. Only use it when my magika runs out.

I didn't put the letter inside the lock box. Maybe that is why it crashed. Only withdrawals allowed. I did go check it out. Also, there is a lockbox key in Gervasius' house. I opened his lockbox and got a surprise.

I'm going to drop the evil axe off and then go meet up with Kim for that quest. I did find the box from the exploding box quest and have a marker out to the east.
